The Democratic Party has moved so far out of step with regular Americans that liberal voters in rural Pennsylvania and elsewhere are removing their yard signs and bumper stickers for fear of ostracization, according to a new report published by the Associated Press.

"The party’s brand is so toxic" in rural communities, the AP suggested, that many Democratic voters the news agency spoke to said they now decline to publicly acknowledge their political affiliation.

"The hatred for Democrats is just unbelievable," said Tim Holohan, an accountant based in rural McKean County, Pennsylvania. "I feel like we’re on the run."

I read the entire article. There were no opinion surveys that indicated that the Democrat Party was becoming "toxic" in rural areas, just a few quotes by people who were unnamed. Also there was no mention of which stands by the Democrat Party were toxic to rural people. Most rural people are directly or indirectly dependent on farm subsidies, and programs like rural electrification. Those were introduced by Democrat politicians, and have continued to be defended by Democratic politicians.

I will admit that some prominent Democrats made fools of themselves during and after the George Floyd riots. Fortunately Democrat politicians are walking away from plans to de fund the police.
