My mouth keeps getting dry and I am drinking the hell out of water (Good stuff when you think about it- cool, clear, clean... nice stuff to put inside of you).

But I cannot for the life of me figure out whether it is the medication or all the pot I am smoking.

Has to be the medication. You know Pot would never do you that way.

More than likely the medication you are taking. Dry mouth is a common side effect of most medications. Of course, you could stop smoking pot for a while, and figure it out by process of elimination. ;)

Very True! And I agree! But for right now, I think I'll stick with my water! :)

Pot always gave me the cotton mouth. I'd try to get off it for a week or two, then you'll know for sure.

I vote medication. Certain medication does that to me as well.

As for the pot....I've had drymouth after smoking, but drinking something usually relieves it right away.

Yeah

I would say it's the Meds unless your smoking the ashes with your pot, then youd be dry as hell.

You just need something to suck on and salivate over.

Pineapple should do the trick.

You know riff that pussy juice will render your mouth dryness inactive.... :D

DéjàWetForYouIfNeedBe;)

it's probably a combination

but since water is so good for you, why worry about it? :)

Polydipsia

This is reffered to as polidipsia<excessive thirst> in medical terminology. It could be the pot but hey, check your blood glucose level. It is one of the symptoms of diabetes along with polyphagia<excessive hunger> and polyuria<excessive urination>

All of these suggestions are great for your dilemma as well.

Hey lavy, why haven't you given me down the road for the "infedelity" instead of "infedility?" heh

Yes, Never made it in about 10 hours. So, less than a half a day away from sexual bliss. ;)

Oh, that's so unfair! I can't compare to Never... never ever ever. heh

But, now that I have this whole puddin' image of you, well.... what's left for me but to succumb to your blatent sexuality?

btw... I took an International Law class in my honors Poly Sci class and have a lot to say on the subject, but my attention right now has been diverted to Marxist being a wife beater. LOL

Without knowing a more complete picture, I'd say it's probably caused by the marijuana.

Dry mouth and thrist are both common side effects of MJ. Marijuana's sometimes used as an appetite stimulant in patients with decreased appetite due to chemotherapy. As any recreational user knows, smoking MJ be followed by the "mad munchies", an increased hunger and thirst. In addition to the CNS effects mild euphoria and behavioral changes it's used for, THC increases heart rate and blood pressure and causes, yes - dry mouth.

As another poster mentioned, xerostomia or "dry mouth" is a fairly common side effect of a number of medications. Increased thrist is a less common side effect (assuming you're taking meds appropriately and as prescribed for a legitimate medical condition. I once saw a woman patient who came in complaining of increased thirst and urination and of course immediately suspected diabetes. She proceeded to tell me that she'd been taking a friend's diuretics to "get rid of bloating" and was mildly dehydrated as a result. Note to board: do not take other people's meds)

If it keeps bothering you when you're not smoking, MJ (and of course, as a medical student it's my obligation to implore you not smoke MJ as it's packed with carcinogens as well as a potential cause of lasting negative brain changes), go see a doctor. He can evaluate you and give you the speech himself. ;)
