I am thinking about writing a story about the domino effect of a hotel offering an afternoon hotel room discount. This would be a ‘Loving Wives’ story about a husband finding out that his wife is having an affair.
A hotel on the interstate starts offering a half price discount on it’s first floor rooms, which are cleaned first at the hotel, and are usually ready at 1:00 PM. The client pays normal price, but gets half of it back in cash, if they check out before 5:00 PM. It is called the Afternoon Delight Discount. It attracts cheaters, who can use the hotel room for just the afternoon, and possibly can write of the full hotel room charge to an expense account, and pocket the discount. The rooms are quickly cleaned, and the available to be rented again that night.
New smart TVs that are installed an then hacked by someone who puts the videos from the smart TVs camera on a cheating wives website. It’s illegal and an invasion of privacy, if they are caught, but the hackers do it anyway.
Some divorce lawyer figures out this this is easiest way to drum up business, and starts paying the hotel for their first floor outdoor security videos. Soon, every person entering and exiting the first floor hotel rooms are recorded, as well as every license plate from every car in the parking lot. The divorce lawyer uses the information to get customers.
Of course, the lawyer hands out a list of PIs, which he gets kickback from for his recommendations.
Then his clients are given to a website for women looking for faithful husbands to marry, for a small fee, of course.
Am I missing any other way that this situation can be milked for a profit?
Does this sound like a good story?
