Deleting unpublished draft story

I'm not sure this is the right place to post, but here goes.

I uploaded a draft story some time ago, but I subsequently revised it offline. So how do I now delete the draft from my dashboard?

A different but related query: is it possible to make minor edits to a published story?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you’re just revising your draft you can do that without deleting it. Just go to the draft and update what you want. You could change the whole thing if you like. I generally find it easier to do a draft update that way. Select all the text, delete that, paste in the new version.

To update a published story send it in as a new submission with EDIT in the title. So if the story was titled “my story, ch 01” your edit might be submitted with a title of “my story, ch 01 - EDIT”. You can also include a note to that effect in the notes part of the submission, which is the only way to go if your title is already bumping into the character limit.

I think there is a way to delete drafts right from the drafts folder. I don't have any in mine, but you might just want to look around for a little trash can/bin somewhere on the draft.

Only by submitting the entire new content (corrections included) with the same title, and the word EDIT added. Include a Note to the Editor. Edits are low priority, so wait a week or so.

If they're minor typos I wouldn't bother - you'll care more than readers will, and intelligent readers will overlook minor goofs (which we all have). It's the second shortest known time period in the universe, the time between pressing Submit and finding your first typo.

If, on the other hand, the story is littered with errors and you're getting called out in Comments, then you should have edited it better in the first place.

There is a way in the Draft folder of the author's page, and I've eventually accidentally found it and managed to get an unintentional draft copy deleted. Can't tell you where it is exactly, as I only found it after a lot of looking and by accident, but there's a way to delete it in the Draft folder.

Getting a draft deleted may have been as simple as Control + A highlighting the listing in the drafts folder and hitting the Delete key.

1. Go to the Pending

2. Click on the Gear icon.

3. There's an option which says Delete

Isn't the OP saying the work is in Drafts, not Pending? You can delete a Draft from the Pending folder?

Thanks to everyone for the responses. It really does seem impossible to remove an unwanted draft - and as my edit was relatively minor (a factual error), I'm going to leave it. But thanks again.

You can change the title, you can change the text, you can change the upload file, the tags, and the note to the Admin. So it isn't really that big of deal unless you have submitted it to be published. I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem? Just put another story in its place and move on.

Maybe I'm wrong.
