Deleted comments

Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering, is it possible for users to delete the comments they leave on my stories? Because in the last couple of weeks two comments have been left and then have disappeared... I never delete comments, no matter how bad, I just laugh at them. Thanks in advance...

I don't think commenters can edit or delete their own comments on a story, but the Web site administrators can and sometimes do.

Thanks, I didn't think so. I don't know why they would do that, because all the comment said was something like 'I wish I could go back in time and prevent you posting this story it sucks like a black hole in space'... I can't quite believe a moderator would bother to delete that, surely?

The moderators here are for the forums only, not the story file. It would be either Laurel or Manu who would have deleted the comments as site administrators. The only way you could find out why is to PM them directly.

Okay, thanks, I'm not really that bothered, it just seems odd when some of my stories have really bad comments and this one seemed completely innocuous...

My last two stories were hit with an almost identical homophobic comment (with consistent voting). I rarely get those, though, and just deleted them myself. No big deal.

I've had one or two deleted. I didn't report them, like you they didn't bother me I just smiled shook my head and left them.

I had one that did irritate me but I replied to it and left it.

The site wants readers to think lit has standards on story side and won't allow certain material. All they need to do is go to the general board to see what they're really just fine with.
