How do I delete my account?
Didn’t find what I was looking for here and I’m done
FAQ:

How do I close my Literotica account?

As a security measure and to make sure that the you are the one closing the account, to remove your account you must log in to your profile.

Click "New Story" in the top header menu.

Choose "New Story".

Make the title "REMOVE MEMBERSHIP".

Choose any category (it doesn't matter - this will not be posted publicly).

In the "Story Text" field, request that your membership be terminated.

Then hit SUBMIT at the bottom of the form.

All story, poem, and illustration submissions you have made to the site will be removed with your account. Be aware that we do not store site submission data - including votes, comments, and the text itself. Once it is deleted from our servers, we cannot restore it.

Per our Forum Rules, we do not remove forum posts except in extreme circumstances - though you can delete the contents of the posts yourself. If you have posts you would like removed, please do so before you send the above request, as it will be impossible for you to edit them once your account is deleted.

Why bother, just walk away. With only 9 posts and only joining in September just delete your history and stay away.

I would second this.

Also, you can go into your posts and edit them. They just need to be 5 characters long. A lot of people who do this change the post to just read “.....” or “deleted.” With just a handful of posts this would be pretty quick and then you could just walk away.

Thank you

Dude. You have responses in this thread. The threads have been merged. Don’t make more threads or write more posts. Take the action and move on. Perhaps just moving on is the appropriate action.

I can't see why this is so hard...

I see the problem here EB... you forgot to tell him where to go... to find the New Story link.

When you get to the main page, click on stories & pictures. At the top of the page you will see either a login link or your user name. If you aren't logged in, click it and login, your user id and password are the same as for the BB.

If you user id is there, click it and it will take you to your authors dashboard where you will find the New Story link at the top of the page.

Quoting for emphasis. If you want posts deleted and aren’t experiencing an extreme circumstance, you need to delete your own posts before asking for your account to be shut down. If you don’t do this, the posts will still be there but you won’t be able to log in and edit them since your account will be closed.

To “delete” your posts, edit the posts to any 5 characters. This is very easy to do with only a handful of posts.

Fine, fine, I'll tell the guy the real truth.

You can't delete your account. It will always be here for ever 'n ever. For any who know you so they can shame you as being a pervert. That's what Lit is really all about. Shame, shame, shame.

Now run along. Oh one other thing, clear your history.

Thanks for all the dickhead replies. Simple question that turned into a shit show.
Bunch of twat waffles...

Not all of us are. The trouble was that electricblue's instructions were accurate, they were incomplete.

Here's the procedure:

1. Log in, maybe. I'm not sure if this is required.

2. Go to https://www.literotica.com/stories/

3. Under "Resources" there's a category called "Submit." Click on that.

4. You'll find the words: "First, Sign Up for a Literotica account. If you have an account on our Bulletin Board, then you can submit using the same name and password via this link." The words "this link" is a link. Click on it.

5. Log in again, because this is a different part of the site, and you'll have to log in again with the same username and password.

6. At the top of that page, there's a link called "New Story." Click on that.

7. There's a little pop-up window that asks for new story, new poem, or new artwork. Click on "New Story"

8. Make the title "REMOVE MEMBERSHIP".

9. Choose any category (it doesn't matter - this will not be posted publicly).

10. In the "Story Text" field, request that your membership be terminated.

11. Then hit SUBMIT at the bottom of the form.

Maybe this should be a sticky here.

You're right, the FAQs don't provide the link, thanks for adding that.

But I don't think the issue here is the site, nor the help being offered, frankly.

My only concern with this is that it is misleading or at least incomplete. The purpose of this is to delete one’s author account. It does close the forum account, too, and the person will no longer be able to log in. But, their posts will remain as will their username tied to the posts. I would expect that most people think that terminating their membership would remove their posts, but it doesn’t; it does, however, remove their ability to edit their posts. Like I said above, it’s pretty easy to edit posts when one only has a handful of posts. It’s a different story for someone with hundreds or thousands of posts.

You could always just log out and walk away, too.

The FAQ is clear on that, and says anybody not wanting their presence retained needs to purge their own posts first (but won't be able to touch anything that's been reposted). Tedious, yes, if someone is a prolific poster, but then it's down to them to think about what they're posting in the first place.

Accountability starts with the poster - the site has no obligation to anyone who says something they later regret. Self restraint starts with the decision (not) to Submit Reply. I'll often draft a reply to something and decide, no, don't post that.

The ID is deleted from both sides. Now the post remain, but with the user ID of guest. Any quoted post will remain no matter what the user does to his own posts.

As far as being snarky to the OP... you did mention you didn't find what you were looking for here. I only had to assume that you were looking for a hookup site but instead found a reading site with an antiquated BB side to it. Or perhaps you were looking for a pedophile site. Or bestiality or other type of site that Lit isn't and never will be.

ETA: Yep, hook up site.
