I am getting frequent moments of Deja vu` these days, and they creep on me so suddenly :(!!

is it normal to get it twice a week?

Happens to me when I'm sleep deprived.

Well, according to my research (alright I just looked at the wikipedia article), feelings of deja vu are strongly linked to schizophrenia, anxiety and temporal lobe epilepsy. Or possibly drug use.

Kind of makes it all cheery.

Interesting. I suffer from anxiety and find deja vu very reassuring. I take it as a sign that I'm on the right path in my life.

Look at it this way: your brain has learned how to take short cuts. Now you don't have to go messing with being methodical, you can jump straight to the answer. (Useful in maths exams)

(except that getting the right answer isn't always as important as how you get there. feh)

Well, wikipedia is as far as my expertise goes.

Do you feel schizophrenic, anxious or drug-user-y?

Well, maybe you wouldn't be able to know schizophrenic, but the others should be obvious.

Basically, I would say that if you are under an unusual amount of stress, or worried about something, this could be one symptom. But if it isn't disrupting your life (at least more disruptive than worrying about being psychic) I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, speaking as someone who doesn't do drugs, never even considered smoking, and... well, let's leave out the alcohol part. Anyway, I'm glad if I can ease your mind a bit.

The human brain is a tricky beast. But so long as it isn't telling you to do bad things, I would let it be on its merry way. Who knows, maybe one of these deja-vu moments will keep you from saying something stupid, like it did for me on a couple of occasions.

Well, I'll be damned.... Deja-vu again.....

Or is that still.....

Ever get the feeling of Vu Ja De? The feeling that you've never done something before? I get that a lot on roller coasters :D

An interesting phenomenon of having the feeling that the common place or situation you are in (walking into the office, standing at the bar) has never happened before; Jamais vu.

When I was very young (I believe ages 7-12ish) I would experience Deja Vu almost a dozen times a day, every single day.

I have heard rumors about it being a subconscious reconnect when you encounter a situation similar to a dream you had recently that you don't remember (as we all have many, many dreams we will never recall).

More scientific minds equate it to nerve impulses or axon-input that is received twice by optical receptors... I probably brutalized that theory. Sue me.

More creative (imaginative) minds equate it to precognition.

Take your pick.
