Long ago, a war raged across the lands. A war that not many knew about... but the consequences of the battles left termoil on the countryside and its people. Yet no one spoke of how it happened... It was the battles between light and dark magics, the beings that handled these mysterious arts...
Centuries passed, and the battles slowly faded from memory. The magics of both sides became nothing more than myth and legend, while others believed it would only take a matter of time for the magic to reawaken itself. These people were scoffed and ridiculed for believing in such nonsense.... Magic was a mere child's story in these modern times, not something meant for the twnety-first century.
That was, no one believed until the blood moon's eclipse.
Decendants of the original magic users began to notice strange things happening to them a few days prior to the eclipse... And once it happened, everything changed. Those who came from the side of Light had a desire to defend and protect, while those decending from Darkness wanted nothing but evil and destruction... both sides discovering that within them resided powers and magics they never knew existed.

((Good guys, bad guys, everything in between... As long as you post a char background *see below*, feel free to chime in! If you have char questions, feel free to ask me.))

Name: Faia Hieko
Age: 21
Side: Light
Appearance: (see attached)
Special Powers: Control of fire.

Faia had always felt something... odd about herself. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but she knew she was different from most other people. She had also been fascinated by flames- a terrible habit for a young girl to develop. When she was just a child, she had accidentally set her playhouse on fire- and yet, was not harmed by the flames. No one questioned this, nor how the fire had started. Even Faia wasn't sure how it happened....
The years passed, and Faia's love of fire continued. She collected lighters, candles, lanterns... anything to contain the flame. Her powers had developed during the eclipse, her lighter engulfing her arm in fire without causing her amy pain. Within weeks, she had learned to control her abilities, and was learning more about herself as well. The one thing she didn't understand, however, was why her friends began to shun her... They thought she was some kind of... freak. She spent most of her time alone, wandering the city and looking for someone- anyone- to relate to.

Kalisto

This sounds pretty cool! Here's my character:

Name: Kalisto
Age: 22
Side: Currently unafiliated (exiled from the Dark)
Appearance: 5' 9" tall and voluptuous, pale skin with dark red zebra-like stripes down her back, white eyes with no pupils, long wavy black hair, tiny red horns on her brow, 3-foot-long prehensile tail
Special Powers: Control of blood and flesh (she can alter her own appearance to a minor extent, such as by growing claws, hiding her tail, or growing small wings that allow her limited flight, or can cause wounds to manifest at range upon her enemies)

Kalisto doesn't recall her birth name; with the advent of the Blood Moon's Eclipse, the latent demonic blood in her veins manifested and transformed her. For several weeks, she was little more than a mindless, feral monster until she was captured by a vampire named Kervyn. Kervyn was an agent of the Dark, and he taught Kalisto how to use her latent powers to not only change her shape, but to tear apart the flesh of her enemies at range, as if by invisible blades. Yet when Kalisto realized Kervyn was only grooming her as a new vessel to house his soul (his own body being not far from dissolution), she killed him and fled his lair. She has since become outcast from the Dark, whose agents hunt her for her crime of murdering one of their elders. She is likewise shunned from the Light for her unusual and grim powers. Kalisto does not know where she belongs, and desperately seeks an ally in these chaotic times.

Sounds Good I'm In

Name: Duwar Delah
Age: 20
Side: Light
Appearance: 6'0", 177 lbs Dark Brown Hair, Blue Eyes, Muscular Build
Any particular powers of note: Control of the Rain

Duwar grew up a pretty normal life until that blood moon eclipse. It was that eclipse that changed everything. The next day he was supposed to go camping with some friends but he didn't want to go, so he prayed for rain to cancel the trip, and it came messing up the prediction of a sunny day, this however was not a freak occaurance it same like whenever he wanted rain he got it, and if he didn't it left or stop. He wouldn't go as far as to say it was magic, but it confused his friends, and left him very lonely.

sure, why not

Name: Aron Relentless
Age: indeterminate (looks 20)
Side: chaotic good?
Appearance: black hair, green eyes, slight build, but tall. always wears black body armor of a mixture of fibers of Spectra and woven strands of zirconium-titanium alloy, along with a black anklelength leather coat, as well as a harness with numerous firearms and melee weapons.
Any particular powers of note: Aron has evolved mitochondria, which allow him to heal rapidly, cure himself of poisons, and ignite the mitochondria of other humans. Aside from that, he can also increase the kinetic energy and penetration of the bullets from his guns, along with infusing the bullet with a payload of toxic mitochondria

how's that?

Faia walked lazily along the side of the road, inches away from the cars. The horns actually sounded... nice, blaring in her ears as they passed. They acknowledged her. They knew she was there. It was quite the change from the last few days in her hometown... It would probably have been different if those drivers knew what she was.
No one wanted to talk to her. No one wanted to be seen with her. She no longer existed, to them. She had spent the three days since the eclipse just.. walking. Where to, she wasn't quite sure. Somewhere that she would be seen again.
"Fuckin' weirdo! Get outta the road!," One man bellowed from his 18 wheeler, blasting his airhorn as he passed.
Faia scowled, tightening her fist and igniting the flame on her hand, raising it and readying to blast the rig-But no, she couldn't bring herself to do it. Hey, at least he saw her. It was just that word... *Freak*. It bothered her greatly, now. She could still hear her roommate shouting it at her in horror after the flame started. She just wanted to be accepted again.

Aurora was, as her father, a defender of light. She stood for all the things he had died trying to give her. Freedom was one of them. Yet she was shunned, an outcast. For years, she walked the earth feeling only hatred and rage, actually succumbing to the Dark yet, the night of the blood moon eclipse, her father was trying to save her. She watched as a man killed her father by tearing his face from his body and pulling his heart out.

She decided right then, she would always help. Yet here she was, lost, roaming around unknowingly, in the worst place she could be. She tossed her hair back and threw the cigarette down crushing it underneath her black boot clad foot. She tried to clear her mind and find a hit to lock onto but something was not right here. Something was blocking what power she had. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught movement. She watched the figure walk among the cars with no real care.

Smuggly, she sniffed and climbed behind the wheel of her vehicle. She would find out what it was and whether or not she could use it.

Duwar saw that woman almost get hit by the truck just in front of him as he was walking down the sidewalk thankfully it missed, but he thought he should do something, even though she would probably just run away the second she sees the clouds following him, watering the plants he passed.

"Hey Miss, you might want to walk abit more on the sidewalk, you might get hurt." He said as he hurried up besides her. He gave her a quick glance. "I don't want to see someone end up a pancake today." He said as he started to walk besides her.

Faia's eyes remained set on the pavement, her hands shoved into her pockets as she walked. "They see me now. That's what matters to me." She paused, hearing rain hitting behind her. Curious, she glanced behind her- seeing the man continue to walk beside her, and the small rainstorm that seemed to be following them. Odd weather...
"You sure you wanna be following me?," She asked, taking her gloved right hand from her pocket, tightening her fist-which caused a burst of flame to form about her hand. "After all, I'm.. just a freak." Something about him, though, seemed to call to her. Something.. familiar.. like she knew him, even though she swore she had never seen him before in her life.

He looked at the woman he was next too, and feel oddly comfortable around her, like with someone he met before. "You can't be anymore of a freak then me." He pointed to the storms following me. "You see that rain behind me, if I want it to I could make a storm that would cover the whole city." He made a storm that covered the area directly behing them. "Or I could make it totally disappear." He snapped his fingers, and it was gone. "It all started with that eclipse a while ago, I think it was called in the media the blood moon eclipse. Now how are you a freak."

Faia stopped in her tracks. He was causing that storm? "You.. had it too." She turned around, looking at him. "That was the same time this started for me, as well. The Blood Moon..." The flame grew on her hand as she spoke. Someone who knew! She wasn't alone!
She realized now where she had seen him. Her dreams. He was one of the people- or at least looked like one of them- that had been with her in those odd fighting dreams she had been having.

Kalisto

It had only been a few days. Three nights at most. Yet to Kalisto, those three nights were all she had. In the first, she'd killed. Vagrants, perhaps. Thugs and criminals, she hoped. She couldn't remember. What she COULD remember was the second night. Of the tall, dark stranger that had taken her to his home, of how he had seemed at once so familiar and safe yet dangerous and mysterious. He had awakened her in the span of a few hours, revealed to her what she was. And when he'd made clear his intentions to use her as a vessel for his continued immortality, she'd brought that immortality to an abrupt end using the self-same talents he'd only so recently helped shape.

His minions had reacted swiftly. She'd left them dead as well, but she knew they were lackeys. She could feel his allies out there, lurking in the city, searching for her. So on the third night she'd fled. The storm had found her crouching in an alley, soaked to the skin before she'd found doubtful shelter under a sagging eave at the end of an alley. The rain did little to cleanse her; she was filthy outside, and felt even moresoe inside. As she huddled there, wondering where to go next, where she could hide, she felt others draw near. In them she sensed the blood, yet this blood was not the blood of her short-lived master. This blood was different. It was pure... it was Light. Kalisto looked herself over, ensuring she had hidden the outward manifestations of her mutations; the tail, the horns, the striped skin. She could hold the disguise only for a few hours at a time. Hopefully that would be enough to find answers.

As the two passed her alley by (a man and a woman), she stepped out, keeping to the shadows as she followed and did her best not to be seen, hoping to learn something more from their conversation.

Duwar looked around and noticed all the attention they were getting. "Miss, I'm happy to know I'm not alone with these powers. But maybe we should go somewhere else to discuss this, the neighbourhood is getting pretty upset." He remember a few dreams he had since the blood moon, about some fighting, that looked an awful lot like her, he didn't know if it was foretelling the future or showing the past, but he knew he needed to get to know this person who can control fire it seems, better to understand the whole story.

Faia was starting to to feel a bit ackward too, extinguishing the flame as quickly as she could and shoving her hand back into her pocket. "Ah- right." She glanced back, noticing that there was someone following them. She raised an eyebrow, debating on saying something... but anything more may just be too much attention. Instead, she remained silent, pointing towards a slightly secluded area down the road. "There?"

He looked at the spot she pointed. "It looks good."He said as they started to walk towards the place she pointed. "I should introduce myself the name is Duwar." He said as he turned around seeing the neighbourhood watch them all the way into the seculded spot.

((Is it okay to join still? This sounds interesting and it looks as though you could use some bad guys.))

Kalisto

When it seemed that she'd been spotted, Kalisto tried to act nonchalant, shrugging her shoulders and clutching her arms to her soaking leather jacket. The couple stepped off the sidewalk and into what looked like a roadside park. Rather than make them even more nervous, Kalisto decided instead to take shelter in a bus stop at the edge of the park. She couldn't hear them, but she could still see them. As she watched them out of the corner of her eye, she tried to work up her bravery to approach them.

"My name's Faia." Her eyes followed everyone that passed by, still leery of everyone. If they didn't trust her.. she wouldn't trust them... yet something inside her told her that she would have to, even if they rejected her. Something out there was a bigger threat than her own pride...
"The Blood Moon Eclipse did something to me. Something I can't explain. Not only the flame, but.. but things in my mind. I'm remembering things I know I never did. Like- like I remembered you... but I don't know you. Its like I was seeing through someone else's eyes."

"Faia is what you remember sort of like a battle, cause if so I think we could be having the same dream, just from a different perspective." He looked around. "This Blood Moon eclipse seems to be a key to figuring out what happened to us, and we can't figure much out sitting in the park, no matter how nice it is. Have you looked up any info on the Blood Moon eclipse and how come these things happened to us and not everyone"

Faia paused at that. "I didn't think about it. I guess... I guess I was frustrated at everyone shunning me. I don't even understand why they did that, either." She stood up, peeking back onto the main road and spotting a library not that far down the road. "We can see if they have anything..."
She started for it, giving a soft smirk as she heard him following her again. She wasn't used to that... not after the last few days of walking alone. "Excuse me..," She said softly to the librarian as they entered. "Do you.. do you happen to have anything on the Blood Moon Eclipse?"

The woman looked up at her with surprised eyes, then gave a light laugh. "Do you want the children's section? Or mythology?"

Faia fought back her true response, giving a weak smile. "Mythology, please."

"Back section." The woman guestured to the far back corner, then turned back to her computer. "I don't know why so many people are looking up those old stories lately. Its just a freak of nature event..."

Others had been look as well? That meant there were probably more like them... She found an old book on the subject, yanking it from the shelves and plopping it onto a desk as she thumbed it open. ... Legend holds that on the Blood Moon's Eclipse, the magics that battled centuries ago will awaken in the ancestors of its warriors, and the battle shall begin once more." She gave Duwar a confused look, then returned to the book. "The power of the ancestors lives on in its line, returning the magics in those strong enough to continue the family battle." Faia leaned back in the chair, shaking her head. "Strong enough? I failed those stupid gym class tests they made us do every year in high school- I'm not strong enough to do any BATTLES-!"

Name: Simon Reynolds
Age: Appears to be in mid-20's
Side: Dark, though scared of what he is becoming
Appearance: Usually wears a long black coat, with darker clothing underneath. Stands about six feet tall. While not overly bulky, he does have some muscle to him, enough that he could be considered intimidating by some. Contrary to the dark clothes he normally wears, his hair is dirty blond, long enough that it gets into his eyes occassionally.
Powers: Limited telekinesis and telephathy. Simon has the ability to graze the thoughts of others, to tell what they are thinking, what they are going to do before they will do it. His telekinesis his somewhat limited, as he cannot lift objects that are too heavy, he usually maxes out at objects that are about 35 pounds. His most notable power, however is the ability for him to slow time around himself. To others, he appears to be moving at incredible speeds, however for him, everything around him slows to a crawl. Doing this drains him immensely though, so he only uses it in instances where it is necessary. His powers scare him, so he has not trained himslef to use them very much, and his potential is greatly untapped.

Simon grew up in a very nice family, his parents were incredibly wealthy, though the way they got their money was somewhat shady. As he grew older, he began to show signs of being incredibly intuitive. During the eclipse, Simon got scared by the family dog and levitated the creature a few feet off the ground. Fearing for what his prim and proper family would think, he took off to the streets. He did not want these powers, and could hardly control them. Needless to say, he found a few others who shared powers like his, and they began him down a path of darkness that terrifies him.

Simon had seen the others in the street, had watched as one had almost been crushed by a car, and then as the other caused a storm to form, and then instantly go away. As he watched the two of them, he heard conflicting voices in his mind. One told him that he should approach them, befriend them. They were different- just like him. The other voice was telling him that they were dangerous, that they would cause him harm. He shook his head, not knowing where these voices were coming from or what to think of them. The only thing that he knew was that these people were like him. He followed them at a distance, watching them closely, but keeping away from them. They entered a library and he hesitated, the second voice telling him that it was a trap, he should be careful, possibly eliminate them. Simon shook his head, not wanting to listen to the voice. Instead, he followed them in, grabbing a book about Arthurian Mythology to pretend to read while he watched them.

((Is this okay?))
