Debate would be more fun with Old School Japanese Rubber daikaiju monster costumes

It has not started, and the journalists already have issues with this debate

Suggestion from a tweet

Another version of the Armageddon film. Hillary Clinton approaching the Orange Asteroid. Ready to nuke it from the inside, and save the Earth from destruction.

Imagine these guys confined to arguing facts. Consider Trump's recent, bizarre claim that African-Americans had not "ever, ever, ever" had it so bad as they do now. In its facepalm/rejoinder, CNN sighed that Trump's "statement is so patently absurd, fact-checking it seems kind of silly," basically spotted Trump slavery, and offhandedly brought up such well-known post-slavery horrors as lynchings. Aha! cried Spencer Irvine of Accuracy in Media: "They could be true, but the article was not sourced, which calls into question the premise of the ‘reality check’ fact-check article." Black people getting lynched? Might be liberal bullshit!

A panel on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” grilled Donald Trump’s campaign manager on Monday over the Republican presidential nominee’s false claim that the moderator in the first debate was a Democrat.

Mark Halperin of Bloomberg Politics repeatedly asked campaign manager Kellyanne Conway to answer why Trump tried to undercut NBC anchor Lestor Holt’s credibility in suggesting Holt would not be a fair moderator in the first debate, scheduled for Monday night at Hofstra University in New York.

When Halperin continued to press, Conway brushed off Trump’s misstatement as “a terrible and irrelevant example."

Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, on MSNBC.MSNBC)
“I don’t know that he knew what Lester Holt’s voter registration was,” Conway said.
(When Trump said Lester Holt is a Democrat ?)

"Without knowing then, he asserted he was a Democrat?” Halperin asked.

NBC's Lester Holt will moderate the Sept. 26 debate between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. Trump mistakenly called Holt "a Democrat," suggesting that he and other debate moderators would be "unfair." In fact, Holt is a registered Republican.

In fact, as Time magazine also points out, Holt has been a registered Republican in the state of New York since 2003.

"They are all Democrats! OK?"

Yes, that would be fun.

Since we're pre-Hallowe'en, why not go full costume? Hillary as Vampirella, Tromp as Gollum, and the moderators as loin-girded cherubs. Cue the bubbles.

Of course when the bomb detonates they'll all only be meaty bits stuck to the walls. Unless the costumes are shielded. Unless the cruise missile is a nuke.

Trump is returning to his tax cut talk.
Which version is he talking about ?

If Trump is selling trickle down. He might want to examine what Gov. Sam Brownback's tax cuts have done.

The news was not good.

August was the 14th straight month the Sunflower State fell into the bottom 10 of annual growth rates around the nation.

For example, it was 5th worst in July, 6th worst in May, 7th worst in March and January, 8th worst in November 2015, 8th worst in September 2015 and 4th worst in July 2015, when this current depressing streak began.

The real problem today remains the fact that, while the 2012 income tax cuts have not led to the job growth he promised, they have decimated public services in Kansas.

The state can’t make pension contributions on time. It can’t repair its highways on schedule. Funding for universities is being cut. And K-12 schools were almost shut down in the summer.

Heidi Holliday, executive director of the nonprofit center in Topeka, said the end of the council's economic assessment tool was an attempt to minimize public exposure of weaknesses in Brownback's program to build the state's economy by exempting 330,000 businesses from the income tax and reducing individual state income tax.

"He specifically asked the council to hold him accountable through rigorous performance metrics," she said. "Five years later, the metrics clearly show his tax experiment has failed while business leaders and local chambers of commerce across the state openly ask him to change course."

Remember when Brownback said in his 2014 re-election campaign that “the sun is shining in Kansas”?

Alas, all that sunshine has disappeared behind a big, dark cloud of obfuscation.

Of course, these were not the reasons given by state officials for the demise of the reports.

The promises that Brownback for years has made about the tax cuts — especially that they would lead to a jobs bonanza — simply aren’t coming true.

Rather than continue to allow the council to put out its information for Kansans to evaluate, the report now will be deep-sixed.

Here’s a simple message to Brownback and his backers.

Trying to hide the truth about the lagging economy doesn’t make the state’s real problems less painful for the people of Kanas.

Woody Gurthrie despised Trump's dad

For Guthrie, Fred Trump came to personify all the viciousness of the racist codes that continued to put decent housing – both public and private – out of reach for so many of his fellow citizens:

I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project ....

And as if to leave no doubt over Trump’s personal culpability in perpetuating black Americans’ status as internal refugees – strangers in their own strange land – Guthrie reworked his signature Dust Bowl ballad “I Ain’t Got No Home” into a blistering broadside against his landlord:

Beach Haven ain’t my home!
I just cain’t pay this rent!
My money’s down the drain!
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven looks like heaven
Where no black ones come to roam!
No, no, no! Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain’t my home!

When Guthrie first signed his lease, it’s unlikely that he was aware of the murky background to the construction of his new home, the massive public complex that Trump had dubbed “Beach Haven.”

Trump would be investigated by a U.S. Senate committee in 1954 for profiteering off of public contracts, not least by overestimating his Beach Haven building charges to the tune of US$3.7 million.

Barrett’s reporting paints a picture of Trump’s background that’s somewhat at odds with the one he paints for himself. Far from that of a self-made billionaire, the image of Trump that emerges from Barrett’s reporting is that of a scion of a wealthy family who got ahead, in large part, thanks to family connections — many of them political.

The State Investigations Commission, after extensive public and private hearings, issued a report on the handling of Trump Village's $60 million Mitchell-Lama mortgage and prompted the commission chairman, Jacob Grumet, to publicly assail Trump, Lindenbaum, et al. as "grasping and greedy individuals" and ask housing finance officials: "Is there any way of preventing a man who does business in that way from getting another contract with the state?"

After a year and a half of furious legal and rhetorical combat, the Trumps, in 1975, agreed to a consent decree described by the head of the housing division as "one of the most far-reaching ever negotiated." It required Trump to advertise vacancies in minority papers, promote minorities to professional jobs, and list vacancies on a preferential basis with the Open Housing Center of the Urban League.

I asked Donald Trump why he'd stopped advertising vacancies in the Amsterdam News when the two-year court mandate had expired. "It's a neighborhood paper for Harlem," he said.

Well the Debate is over. From the position of dispassionate observer, I think we heard the same old shit from both of them. Nothing new, no policy statements, no concrete plans to improve the economy, nothing about money in politics or how to get Congress to do their fucking jobs.

Winner? The losers are the American People who will have to choose between two of the most abhorrent candidates ever.

I was six years old when Nixon and JFK
started having debates on TV.
I would have been better off,
staying with the adults
and watching the debates.
I joined the herd of younglings, in the next room.
I watched two movies, The Blob (Evil Jello!)
and Them (Godzilla's Ant Snacks)
I had nightmares.

One is a sleazy political whore. One is a sociopathic traitor who has invited a hostile foreign power to dick with USA elections, invited the assassination of political opponents, and promised war crimes and crimes against humanity. Alas, they are not quite equally abhorrent. The choice is between shitty and much, much shittier.

I never said they were equally abhorrent, :eek:but each has severe flaws.

What is more important is the Senate and House races. Kansas, Michigan, and a few other states could use new Governors too. :)

Here is train of thought, that would never have occurred to me.

Especially, considering it was Trump on the debate stage...

https://www.theguardian.com/comment...ump-woman-hillary-clinton-presidential-debate

Imagine if Donald Trump were a woman. You simply can’t

But imagine it wasn’t Trump who was the conduit for this anger. Imagine it was a woman. Picture a woman up there on the podium last night shouting over her rival, jabbing her finger in the air, denying she’d said things there was ample evidence of online that she had said. Imagine a completely inexperienced woman insisting she had better political nous than someone who had been at the forefront of politics for decades. And, of course, you can’t: it is, literally, beyond imagination.

I think those Pubs actually active in the party have by now pretty much written off this election at the presidential level. Their concern now will be to get Pub voters to turn out anyway, to vote for the down-ballot races, at least.

A journalist that has studied Trump for quite awhile, speaks on Trump

Wayne Barrett on Trump's Debate Performance: 'He Was Trying Too Hard'
author Jon Campbell

"He has reached a point where he can feel this in his hands…and I think last night was, strangely enough, a perfect demonstration of that, because he was trying too hard."

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/wa...te-performance-he-was-trying-too-hard-9161225

"...lets any substantive point he might have fall by the wayside in favor of vitriol and an almost pathological need to respond to any perceived slight."

" It wasn’t even like he had something meaningful to add. He was just being belligerent."

I predict that tomorrow will bring more of the same.

So how long can Donald hang on with the Republicans in revolt?

Can he hang on long enough that when Pence is put up as President and Donald bows out, to collect his check, that Mike has no chance on the 8th? If he steps away too soon, Pence could gain support (muffles laughter) and beat Hillary.

I am guessing that they tranquilized Trump.
He is in slow motion and subdued.

He has a snuffle and many snorts, and countless sniffles.
Wet sniffles.
He is a bit out of breath.

Are these snuffles side effects ?

Yuck

Trump just molested the debate.
Everyone is acting polite and following form.

What they all should have done, is rebel!
Stood up
and shouted to the world, that he is
a disgusting disgrace
on national television.

It is depressing to see decent people be forced to lower themselves to treat Trump as if he is worthy to be there.

It is dispiriting.

It is depressing.

It is infuriating.

Get out of town, Trump! You are scum.
Trump, you nsulted every real and decent person when you had the gall to say you were a gentleman.

Tromp says he's smart. Casino odds-makers and pro gamblers think HRC will clock him; his odds are way down. If Trump really was smart, he'd bet on his losing. He could make a pile! It'll be YUGE!

Betting against himself would be a no-lose situation. If he wins, he wins. If he loses, he wins. Ya think he's maybe throwing the election?
