DEATH SENTENCE by Brian Garfield.
It aint nuthin like the movie. In the movie a nice kid is murdered by college frat boys the judge sets free. Yje nice boy's dad hunts and kills the frat boys.
The book is DEATH WISH 2. Paul Benjamin moves to Chicago and kills half the city before he finds Jesus. All it is, is Paul shooting everyone (and saving nice black people from gangs) and going to cocktail parties where the elites debate the blame for criminals. Hug A Thug. I hatched a plot bunny for a story.
Garfield was mostly a Westerns writer. Elmore Leonard started life writing Westerns, and his Westerns are better reading than his noir.
DEATH SENTENCE is a competent effort but nothing to get excited about.
