IRAN: PORNOGRAPHY PRODUCERS TO GET DEATH PENALTY UNDER NEW LAW

Tehran, 30 April (AKI) - The culture committee of the Iranian parliament approved on Monday a bill sentencing to death producers of 'pornography', videos and films deemed vulgar by the country's censorship. The draft law will now go to parliament where it is expected to be approved by an ample majority. Amateur porn films have a properous market in Iran and can fetch up to 30 euros each.

The market, tolerated for a long time, became a nationwide issue earlier this year after a porn film of popular television actress, Zohre Mir Ebrahimi, having sex with her partner, was released.

I can't say I'm surprised by this law. What does surprise me is that it had been tolerated to begin with. I would have thought those tightwad Iranian leaders would long ago have come down hard on anything influenced by the West.

I don't know if they are geeks, but some Iranians are begining to question if oil revenues might be better used for the benefit of Iranians, rather than Hizbollah, 'insurgents' in Iraq, etc.

In case anyone is not aware, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the President of Iran is a Twelver Shia. Ahmadinejad believes that there must first be a world war and then the 12th Imam will again appear and rule the world for Islam. Ahmadinejad wants an attack on Iran, in hopes that will trigger the world war. However, not all Iranians are in favor of starting a world war. In fact, Ahmadinejad's allies were defeated in the last election. In the meantime Ahmadinejad continues his march back into the dark ages.
