Death at my college today

A fellow student at my school (Holy Cross in MA) died this afternoon... he was taken out on a stretcher, with EMTs doing CPR, trying to save him. God, it was terrible. They haven't told us exactly what happened, although his neighbor said that he either choked or had an allergic reaction. There is a special mass tonight at 11pm in memory of him, so we're going to that. It's so sad...what a terrible thing to happen to a young man.

Wow. we've only ever had one death at our school and I remember how hard it affected the campus.

Thats rough I hope your ok, it reminds me of a guy who came into an office I was working in as a personel officer, he was very shaken because a fellow worker had died in front of him that morning and as the supervisor he had to come report it to us.

Seems this guy was 27 and in great shape (regular swimmer) but had had a cold or flu over the weekend, anyway he comes into work on the monday morning and picks up his hammer, tells some of the guys he still feels rough but not bad and starts to work, ten minutes later he keels over dead as a door nail.

Turned out the flu had been a virus that had attacked his heart and he simply had a heart failiure and died on the spot.

I'm so sorry, sweetvee, I know how things like that can make you question your own mortality. In one of the dorms on my campus, (all male) a guy went kind of nuts and killed three other students with a shotgun he had snuck in. It was really tough for the whole campus. At the same time, it brought people together, and brought out the best in many.

I am very sorry to hear that. It can be hard, even if you don't know the person.

I live in a college town, but we don't get to many. The worst was two years ago, a guy climbed to the top of the stairwell and jumped off. He didn't die right away, but after about a week, died from complications.

I had nevre met him, or anything, but it happened in the building my husband works in, which is creepy.

I go to another Mass State College. We're a small school, and I know if something like that happened here the entire student body would be in mourning. Your (and his) thoughts are with me.

I just got back from the mass. It was a beautiful service, but so incredibly sad. All of the hockey players and his family and friends sat in the front, crying and hugging each other. I did not know the man personally, but this is a pretty small school and it's having quite an impact on the student body. It's so hard to be reminded that you CAN'T help everyone, the guy's RA knew CPR and still could not save him..and I'm an EMT and all that I can think is what if this happens to a girl on my floor, and I can't save her and she dies. I would never be able to forgive myself..even though my brain tells me that these things are never anyone's fault. It just starts a chain of thoughts... and I really don't know what to think anymore...

I wish things like dying young didn't have to happen. I know what your going through. At my school, a person died it year. I remember who like it was yesterday. A peer of my collapesed in his economics class,. I had a class in that room next period. I had to have a study hall in the caf. 2 hrs. later, he was pronounced dead. He was only a Junior.

I am very sorry to hear that happen, life is so unfair at times. But you can only make the best of your life and live each day as your last as you never know if it will be your last day.

You will be fine im sure of that

And why do some poeple have to be so sick, wonder how they would feel if it happened to someone they love. Sheesh there are some sickos in this world!

Have some sympathy, Sweetvee was most likley letting out some grief by posting on here. Well im get off my throne as it's just gets me ticked off.
