I hope that this means the process of rebuilding will be focused around Bernie and the platform that was put forward during the primary but ultimately not adopted at the convention. It should be obvious that the establishment version of that platform was just defeated in this election, along with an establishment candidate.

It seems similarly obvious that the very small margin of loss in the key states along with the winning of the overall popular vote means a lot of Bernie supporters held their nose and voted for Hillary. And the examination of the votes that were cast shows a lot of the vote that the establishment Democrats counted on stayed at home.

But there were definitely a lot of Bernie people that went Trump or Johnson, and some that stayed home as well.

Let's get them back.

Clinton did starting changing her platform to fit more in mold of Bernie's platform. Wasn't 100% but it was still a lot more then many people expected. She isn't blowhard and uncaring person that media liked to portray her as.

Odds are Bernie at his age won't make it to 2020, and Democrats are in near free fall mode now after losing all branches of federal power. Yes I know Supreme Court hasn't been decided yet but we all know that Trump is putting crony in.

Only way for them to come back is if Trump drops the ball hard and lets them swoop in for the win.

Well, not necessarily a crony, but necessarily a right-winger; his campaign promise was to pick from the Heritage Foundation's list of acceptable judges.

What's so crazy is many, and a ton of posters here, thought the end of the Republican party was taking place....or imploding. Now, its the democrat party that is in turmoil....***** turns on a dime, baby!!

I have no idea what sort of dope one has to smoke to fantasize Bernie Sanders would've have even come close to doing as poorly as Hillary Clinton did against Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton lost because too many Democrats stayed home holding their noses instead of getting out and voting for her. Many, many more Democrats wouldn't have voted for Sanders either, making Trump's electoral vote triumph much, much more grand had Sanders been the Dem nominee.

Bernie Sanders should sate himself today simply with a future much, much more obscure than even Ron Paul's is today.

Bernie is a socialist. Good luck with that.

Calls himself that, but really a social democrat or progressive; he never proposed nationalizing/socializing the means of production, after all. What he represents could be a big winner if it is pitched to the white working class without slighting the nonwhite working classes (which the Dems already have), and the Dems need to win back the white working class if they want a comeback.

Bernie didn't want open borders. He was a racist.

I hope that too. In spades.

In 2018 seven Senate seats will have to be defended.

They are all Democrat. I would love to see full-on Socialist ideas being advanced...
