Dealing with pregnancy decisions in a story

I've come to a bit of an issue. Might be due to the lack of good coffee, but my third story (was my second, but I've got one for the comp just finishing) hinges on a decision by the main character about choices after she finds out she's now pregnant by a smarmy little git.

It all works out. She goes through with the pregnancy and mashes the guys nose across his face. I'm just not sure how to deal with the decision making.

Can anyone point me to a story that deals with the same moral dilemma?

Thanks

Russ

Ok, sometimes just talking about it helps. I’ve figured a way to solve the dilemma.

Yes, well, these sorts of decisions are what part of one writing his/her own stories is about. Sorry, but if I sat down to write a story and started looking for committee support on a point like this, I wouldn't be writing that story.

A hint for any tough writing decision: At a fork in the road, follow the least likely tine. Also, write the ending you want, then make the story go there.

How does a character make a tough decision? That's up to their personality, hey? Is the player based on yourself or someone you think you know? Then consider how you or they would work it out. Are they totally invented? Then make them do what you want. Are you out of ideas? Then plagiarize gently.

I write a lot of impregnation stories and deal with it in various ways. Most of my pregnancies are not unwanted, as yours is. I think your decision was a good one.
I've had good luck with having the unwanted pregnancy miscarry, and I've chickened out and ended the story at the moment she discovered the pregnancy.
I had one where the pregnancy was embraced and carried to term. It got horrible reviews.

When in doubt, write a happy ending.

Pregnancy Advice from one who knows

If you live where it is warm, get pregnant in the summer so you aren't carrying that extra weight around when it is ninety-five degrees outside.

A lot of cold weather snuggling can screw that plan up royally. ;)

We lodged at a hot-springs resort in Alaska near the arctic circle in November. Aurorae roiled overhead at night. A mistaken alarm nearly sent us running naked through snow at dawn but that's another story. Anyway, the resort mostly catered to Japanese tourists -- couples who wandered in the trees to screw under the Aurorae because holy legend said a new Imperial line will start that way. Pregnancy under the cedars with moose strolling by and wolverines in the distance. Yum.

I have written one impregnation story, and I gave it a happy ending. Happy in an optimistic way, anyway. In erotica I don’t know how pregnancy can be treated in any negative way. It must be embraced as the natural result of lust and passion.

True, I hate dealing with committees in my day job. However when I’m stuck with a technical issue when writing a specification I can usually ask someone. Can’t really do that with this...

I’ve been able to just sit back and think if I was stuck, but this one was different for some reason. Pretty much as soon as I put up the post though and had a decent non-instant coffee a solution appeared.

Moral: Coffee will resolve anything...
