Lambda Rising is the place to go. It's on Connecticut Ave about a block north of the metro station, you can't miss it.

Unfortunately the good alternatives have closed within the past few years. But Lambda Rising is awesome.

I'm curious, why were you asking about DC queer bookstores in the first place?
