Right now I'm sitting back and letting my mind drift between writing periods, surfing around and looking at things that interest me.

For example, I recently got this link of the Monterey Bay Aquarium (Thanks, Jammies!) where they have a drop-down list of several live webcams in the different animal exhibits. Here's a shot of some rocks at Monterey. Very peaceful to look at, no?

What do you like to do when you daydream?

My daydreaming happens in different places and at different times, it's quite sporadic and often happens at the worst possible times (like when I'm about to cross the road...)

If I'm at home and it happens, my mind just wanders into a story (my daydreams take the form of stories) , so I just sit back and travel...

Dangerous stuff. Be careful. :rose:

I'm watching the Aviary/Bird cam at Monterey. Birds are lovely.

That's the truth. I love watching birds. I recently moved, at my former home we had robins, mourning doves, cardinals, bluejays, and woodpeckers. We also had crows but I hated them, one time I saw about 10 of them gang up on a rarely seen eagle and violently chase it out of their territory.

Now I live close to the shore and there are a lot of lakes and ponds here and the birds I see are different. A lot of ducks and Geese, big Canadian Geese. There's just something comical about these kinds of birds and I love watching them. They don't care for children too much always flapping their wings and honking at them. Often time you'll see two geese walking their baby chicks from one water source to another and it's cute. I even saw a stork the other day, first time I saw one in real life.

On topic, my daydreams really consist of thinking about stories to write. What I want to write about, how I want the characters to act, how I want the plot to develop. Whenever I am waiting at places like a doctor's office or such I never touch the magazines or anything I just get lost in my own thoughts of what I want to write about.

You're very lucky to see so many birds each day. All I've been able to see around here is the occasional pigeon, seagull or duck (if I'm walking by the sea), and I hear the owls constantly. :)

For some reason I don't consider my "storythought" daydreaming. I count it as story development whether I'm thinking about a story before falling asleep or I'm sitting at my desk thinking and brainstorming. I guess my definition of daydreaming is somewhat different.

I enjoy the birds very much. There's only one drawback: the bigger the birds the bigger the droppings. I mean I've seen some that could rival a good size dog's.

Even the noises they make I like. As soon as the sky starts to lighen arund a quarter after 5, the geese begin to honk, and it's very serene. Even if it wakes me up, I wake up in a peaceful and tranquil state and fall back to sleep easily.

I don't know, even when I daydream about wining the lottery, being able to fly, being able to stop time, or other silly things like that there's always a thought in my mind: "Is there a story here?"

:D

To me, the most peaceful bird sounds are that of the loon. I have a Sounds of Nature sampler CD and sometimes I have the "Cry of the Loon" track on loop while I'm writing. When I'm not listening to that, I'm playing "Distant Thunder." :)

As for the droppings, I know exactly what you mean. Yuck. My first college (where I went for my Psych degree) has a huge manmade lake in the middle of the campus along with hundreds of Canadian geese. Going to and from classes was hell because I had to dodge all those droppings (on the sidewalk, no less). :p

Sometimes I cruise around for usable pictures to make AVs with while I'm daydreaming.

I've been watching the penguins. A person was in there cleaning the area a bit, most of the penguins ignored her but two of them watched her every move. Watchers watching watchers watch or something like that I guess. Any way I got a kick out of it. Thanks for the link! :)

You're welcome. I'd recommend the Shark cam, but it seems to be down today.

*stares off into space*

This thread should have been called "Procrastination." Le sigh.

Am I weird for admiring the frame?

Nope. *sighs again*

I was having dinner with my friends from the music school last night, and it turns out that several of them are going to Paris in September. For obvious reasons, I can't go along. Damn it all to hell. :(

Thanks Aurora, this is really cool. My daughter is going to love it. I wish the zoo here would do something like this. It's probably boring, but I like checking out the satellite pics of the earth. There's a site that let's you check out different satellites all over the earth. I find the areas between day and night really cool to check out. It's amazing to see it that way (at least to me, I'm such a geek).

I  satellite pics! :D

I wish I had my own island, but until then I'll have to make to with the dips in the Mediterranean each summer. Very nice thing to tide me over. :D

I didn't want it to be just me. :(

Well I should be coding the rest of my website so I can get it back up and stuff, so I suppose I'm procrastinating as well.

The Ari & Aurora Procrastination thread? :p
