Just a quick reminder to those of you who have to deal with day light savings time. Don't forget to set back your clocks one hour!

Gottcha, but I still had to check the world time clock thingie to do it. (I dozed off and couldn't remember if I'd done it or not. I hadn't.)

Here in NSW Australia we've just put our clocks forward for summer time - I used to hate that when I lived in New Zealand because the clocks would go forward at the beginning of October and we'd be back to getting up in the dark  It's much more civilised here! :D

The actual name is Daylight Saving Time...no "s". It has only aquired that s during the years of losing and gaining an hour at a time. Sleepless minds and all?

I've never really had a problem with remembering, and actually didn't have to think about it that much, because I always had Sunday to recover before returning to work on Monday, whichever way we went (Fall back <--- or Spring forward --->).

But, in recent years, I've had a job where Sunday is just another work day. I also was recently working nights where we would gain one hour of overtime in the Spring, and lose an hour of regular time in the Fall.

And, last but not least, we had one guy who just didn't quite seem to be all there. He was ALWAYS an hour late to work the day after DT went into effect and came to work an hour early when ST returned. He was completely oblivious!

He no longer works there, but it just makes you wonder...some people really have a hard time with change, no matter how much notice they're given.

He really needs to move to Arizona or maybe the eastern edge of Indiana? Maybe he did.

I wonder...did he ever remember to change his smoke alarm batteries?

I actually didn't know that it was even time for day light saving time, until a friend of mine told me just before I posted it here. She IM'd me to remind me to turn back my clocks, and I'm like, oh is it that time again? lol

Have you thought about moving to Arizona?

Psssst Not to keep bashing your posts, but it's UPLOAD when you send something to someone else, and DOWNLOAD when you copy something to your computer. :D

You'd be amazed how many people called 411 today just to ask what time it was. Ummm, you're making the call from your cell phone. Turn it over and look.

I don't have a cell phone. Do they auto-adjust like caller ID units do?

of course, if nobody calls you on Sunday, that doesn't help, either.

We set our clocks forward one hour just over two weeks ago now. So we're currently GMT +13 (13 hours ahead of GMT.)

Ack! Okay. I'm in US Eastern Standard Time Zone - that's GMT-5:00... I have a good friend who lives in NSW, and he *was* 14 hours ahead of me... which (since I was on DST when he told me that) would be GMT+10:00, right? So he would be ... 15 hours ahead now? Or did NSW go on DST as I went off, and he'd be 16 hours ahead? Aaaargh! Damn Magellan! And whoever invented DST. And Cook, too, just on general principle!

I hate time changes. I believe they should pick one (preferably DST) and leave it! It makes no sense anyway. By nature it will get dark sooner in the winter anyway so should the clocks be changed in the other direction to keep it lighter longer?

And Quint, not all phones auto-set. Mine does not.

Fungi I thought NZ clocks went forward about a month ago?? The first Sunday in October, and then back on the third Sunday in March......???

I hope you haven't been an hour late for work for the first two weeks in October

I have this like/dislike relationship with time change.

I like it that I can sleep in an extra hour in the fall.

I dislike it that it gets dark now, before five.

I like it that it remains lighter in the evening.

I dislike it that I have to wake up an hour earlier in the spring.

and while you are changing the clocks don't forget to change the batteries in you smoke detectors.

Ug. I'd kill myself. It's freaken hot there, and there's ton of nasty, poisonous bugs. *shudders*

huh? I didn't say anything about downloading or uploading anything to my computer.

When you get your film developed have them put it on a disc or a cd. That's what I do, then you can just download it.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you it was in a different thread.

Well, okay, so we set our clocks forward OVER two weeks ago. Yeah, now that I think about it, you're right. It was a month ago.

Who can remember these things? That's why I like computers that automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time.

When I was living in Sydney and writing software for a telecommunications company there, I was amused by all of the different time zones in the same country. Because of course, New Zealand is all the same time zone.

The most amusing bit was that Queensland has the same time zone as New South Wales, except that they don't do the DST change. Apparently they are concerned about the additional sunlight fading the curtains. :p

We changed the clocks in UK as well.

I have heard this started about the time of WW2 as they wanted more working time on farms etc, but that may be complete fabrication *shrugs*

In east anglia its not so bad, but in Scotland and Northern England it means that by January the kids go to school and back home again in total darkness, which can't be much fun.

Unfortunatly due to clock changes my house is cold when I get home.
My ex alwasy alterted the boiler & central heating settings.
I have no idea how to do this, so settings and clock are now wrong.

Still come spring one less thing to change lol

*sigh* it seems that there are so many things with clocks on them! VCRs, microwaves, stoves, cars, cellphones, not to mention all the watches, wall clocks and clock-radios  And I always seem to forget at least one

.... unless you're living in the middle of the freak show i like to call indiana.... because if so, then you probably won't need to set your clocks back or forward unless you feel some quirky rebelious need to

*clears throat*

Umm...I live in Indiana...

yes. freak show state.

We never change our clocks. Half the year we are central time, half the year we are Eastern time. Everyone just changed around us, and we go on in oblivious bliss.

I rather like it...except remembering when I call family whether I am on their time or not.
