The rudders grinding. The sails flapping in the wind. The many mutters of the short goblins dashing about checking the ropes and twinges of the zeppelin. Clouds forming on the horizon. The moon hidden and the stars fading from sight. Lightning clashing among the clouds and thunder booming sending shudders through the core of everyone on board. Well, everyone except me. I was born on a night like this. I was very weak when I was born, or so the story is told. My mother died from childbirth and I was only saved by the power of the Sunwell. Given new life, given new purpose - as the fire mages had claimed. Even as I stand here on the deck of the Zeppelin bound for Orgrimmar, the darkness surrounding us as we cross the Great Sea, my skin glows with the light of a thousand suns. My hair as bright as the fiery pillars of Ragnaros himself. But alas, I am not a mage. Not a warlock. Not a priest either. I am a hunter. A ranger of sorts. But you wouldn't be able to tell it by the way I was dressed. Nevertheless, I was trained by the youngest of the Windrunner sisters before she took her leave and changed her allegiance to the Alliance. All... for love. I scoffed at the thought. Love for a man. Something so menial. All they think about is their dicks and how they can wield them as good as any sword.
"Madam Lessa. We have moved the other passengers inside," the goblin captain beckoned to me at my feet, no taller than my knee. Eyes red and skin as green as fel fire. His crooked pointed teeth smiling as he continued. "The storm, madam. It's getting worse and the crew only have the best interest of the passengers at heart, please. Inside.." he said waving his hand to the stairs that would lead to the belly of the ship.
I smirked looking to him, dressed in my garnet robes, golden bangles on my wrists, emerald jewels adorning my neck and ears to match my glowing eyes. "I do not fear the coming storm, Mr. Coppernut," I paused looking back over the railing, small drops of rain beginning to fall ahead of us. "Besides, you only care about us for the extra change in your pocket.."
He looked at me, mouth agape as he was astounded by my response. "Madam! We care more about you than the extra ch-- and it's Copperbolt by the way..-- let me just set something straight. My zeppelin, my rules. Ya hear me?"
I turned my gaze down to him and he jumped back from how coldly I looked at him. "I do not wish to further this conversation, Mr. Copperbolt. Just get me to Orgrimmar so I may continue onto my business.."
He turned feeling a bit beaten, grunting from the loss but began shouting orders to the crew yet again. The thunder boomed again as I looked to the lightning - the flash enhancing my features against the night sky. My heart torn from my homeland as my mind drifted to bittersweet memories, even as the lights of Orgrimmar were pale against the horizon. The redstone mountains surrounding it on all sides lit up by the flashes of lightning yet again as we slowly approached the continent.
War. Nothing but war had raged during the last year. So many lives lost during the war against the Burning Legion. Gul'dan had been beaten, but at what cost? The eerie green slow of fel fire chasms across the barrens could be seen from here, even with eyes that cannot see that far. And back home in the Eastern Kingdoms, fel fire would cause many of the forests and lands to be uninhabitable for years to come, even with purification rituals taking place.
The zeppelins came to a slow pace as we reached the platform. I pulled a stone from my satchel, touching while murmuring a spell. "Your pay, Mr. Copperbolt.." I said chucking gold to him before a golden smoke enveloped me and a dragonhawk appeared beneath me. I took to the skies as I headed northwest, to Ashenvale. Serenity and peace is what I needed now.
