I just discovered him. I grabbed a book of his ("Dress your Family in Corduroy and Denim") to read on the plane a couple of weeks ago. Now I've read almost everything he's written. I just love him. He's like a gay version of CarsonShepard.

Anyone else know/like/hate his writing?

I can only dream of being that talented. Me Talk Pretty One Day is one of my favorite books.

What I've read of him seems snippy and snipey. When I read "The Elf Diaries" it struck me that he was contemptuous of his fellow workers, the poor stiffs that were trying to keep on keeping on, and respectful towards the upper class shoppers that visited the store. He's an urban Erskine Caldwell, without any redemptions. I thought "Me talk Pretty" was whiney and self-pitying, and I couldn't really read it without filtering it through his previous intolerance. It certainly made sense and shed light on his other work but it's nothing I would read for fun...

But that's just me ;)

I'd like to see you and him in a boxing ring

What's his weight class?
I wouldn't worry about it, he just runs round and round in circles swinging his arms like windmills

oh, good-- I'll last for at least seven rounds with him, then.

This thread is confusing the heck out of me...

Stellaaah is Stella, I'm guessing.

But I always thought Sub_Joe was now someone else... *brain implodes*
