While I am a huge Letterman fan, I dont' see why ABC isn't considering a time slot change for Nightline...

While I understand that Letterman will give ABC better ratings, I find this to be a very inopportune time to have such a drastic shift in their programming.

I got the distinct impression that it was demographics and not ratings that was behind this proposed change. Also, Nightline and Ted Koppel are still going to be on ABC,just not in the "early late night" spot.

I believe CNN said that Nightline gets about 20% better ratings, but mostly in the 50+ age group. Letterman's 18-40 demographic makes more money from lower ratings.

I hope this deal falls through, because Nightline is a welcome option to play against the dumb jokes and inane interviews CBS and NBC offer in that time slot.
