Daughter kicked butt on first ACT.

Aw, I'd assumed she was in a play--and I was rather worried whether someone was supposed to have their butt kicked in the first act.

Congrats (on the begining of a l o n g nailbiting sessions).

Thank you! :rose:

That title does read a bit odd, doesn't it? We've been seeing these test prep packets with huge ACT lettering for weeks so it seemed normal to me.

(On the other hand, her high school is going to be doing Grease next fall - we'll see what happens there!)

;)

The proverbial apple doesn't fall far from the tree, sweetie.

:rose::kiss::heart:

She'll have a solid 32 or 33 composite score before it's done, I imagine.

Her math score was so low it pulled her other scores down to the 26.

But all of this, to her parent's relief, means that she'll be able to get into about any university she wishes, provided we can manage the funds. Yay scholarships? ;)

Been there, done that...Both my SAT and GRE scores would have been higher if I didn't suck at Math...I had a math whiz bud of mine tutor me on the math portions and still just squeaked by. I aced all the interesting stuff, tho. :D

She'll have no trouble getting a scholarship...especially with her scores and both of you being educators.

Good luck!
Having been there with my youngest a few years back

She will be a senior at Wake Forest in Aug.

Yay kid! She's just 14 but we wanted a baseline test. Of course, the testing happened a couple of days after my husband's surgery (although daughter seemed unaffected) but it certainly added to my scheduling stresses.

But! Scores came out in the mail yesterday (though they were available online last Monday) and her composite is 26 - we're pleased! Her math is on the low end, but then again, she hasn't even had Geometry yet.

Her Science and Reading and English scores are high. That, along with her freshman GPA and her interest in veterinary medicine must be why she received a college letter today inviting her to visit the campus of a state school with an excellent vet program.

It's early, but I suppose never too early to begin this crazy process. She's growing up!

:rose:

Yea!! That's terrific! I'm so proud of her, you'd think she was mine, lol.

We have annuities for each kid's college, and we started the Roth last year, too.

I'd love for them to start life after college without being in massive student loan debt.

Like us.

Mine has a somewhat small debt load. :D
Most is paid by scholarships and grants :D
At $21,500/semester, it better be!

If you haven't already been there, may I recommend HERE.

Lots of scholarship and grant opporunities filtered to what they're interested in studying and where they're thinking of attending. Can't start looking too early.

And congratulations on the score ... 26 is a good solid number even for older students, so to get that now is quite the accomplishment. :nana:

Oooh, thank you for the link! :rose:

And yes, I don't think she quite understands the significance yet - but that will come.

:)

It's a good site and they'll even email you updates when new scholarships come out.

We've been going there since the oldest was only about a year ahead of yours ... and now we're starting to look for grad school scholarships

Junior year is PSAT. Older son was National Merit Semi-Finalist. That got he big bucks at a school we both know so well. Make sure she takes it. Planning their whole life ahead of them.

Congrats for a job well done - by your daughter in the test and by her parents for guiding her that far! :rose:
