I don't think he cares for them in the least bit....unless Kareem is doing the piloting. That's a whole 'nother tale.

You look like you're pretty groovy.
Or if you want something visual,
that's not too abysmal,
we could take in an old Steve Reeves movie.

Has anyone seen "The Celluloid Closet". There was a part where, oh fuck, I can't remember the man's name, but the writer of Ben Hur was talking about adding a gay element to the movie. A long lost love thing between Charlton Heston and another fellow. Things like that make a movie so much more interesting to me.

That was Gore Vidal, and he wasn't the writer, he was a "script doctor" called in for a couple days work on the set. Heston vigorously denied the account in a series of letters between him and Vidal in the LA Times a couple of years back, and in the debate Heston came out better.

Vidal probably suggested the homosexual relationship to a couple of people, and they may have used it a bit here and there for subtext, but the scene wasn't actully "written" that way.

Still, knowing Vidal's suggestion it does make the scene more fun to watch): Description of "Gay" scene from Ben-Hur

Thanks, I couldn't remember his name to save my life!! It doesn't really matter to me if it was written that way, either. I agree it does make it a heck of alot more interesting to watch. I am always trying to invent gay subtext in everything I watch!! I am frequently told that I am a drag queen trapped in a woman's body. Probably true...Is there a difference between girlie and effeminate?
