Danger smiled to herself. As she orchestrated the scenario that she, Cyclops and Professor Xavier created she couldn't wait to test the X-Men in battle. Cyclops especially was in for a rather unpleasant surprise. He may have programmed her to follow a certain scenario but he had no idea Professor Xavier had given her the freedom to run another.

Cyclops

Walking to the Hangar Bay Cyclops looked around. He was amazed at how real shi'ar technology was. Danger, a sentient being capable of producing not only hard light that replicated real matter but of shifting light in such a way that the human mind can't register that they are not really moving very far at all as much as what they see moves around them.

Sniffing the air Cyclops realizes the place smells exactly like their Hangar Bay. Going into the Blackbird Cyclops takes the pilot seat. He believes he inherited the skill to fly from his father Corsair.

"Its natural for a Summers to fly" he says to himself with a smile.

Refocusing on the mission Cyclops hits his X communicator.

"Wolverine and Beast, we're ready to fly."

Emergency signals go off on the recreational grounds at Xavier. After a moment the basketball court opens up and the blackbird is pointed to the sky.

Cyclops awaits his fellow X-Men and deliberates the task that lies ahead.

Beast sighed as he climbed into the Blackbird and took the co pilot's seat up front.

He half turned to scott, helping with the pre-flight checks.

'Logan'll be here any second.'

He clicked on the comms, so that they could easily talk to Nocturne and Hellion without having to mess around.

Part of his mind flew back to his son. Then forward onto Apocalypse. both he and scott, hell even logan had had the worst experiences of the x-men when it came to apocalypse.

Scott had basically become Apocalypse, Beast had becomeDark Beast, the mutant tyrants scientist, and logan had been one of the four horsemen.

He sighed, knowing that the onbly person who could claim to have as much experience as they did was Angel.

'Here we go again.'

"Lets roll boys." logan said strapping himself into a seat. Hank and the boy scout were already there. "Anybody else dying for a good scrap?"

Hank just raised his eyebrows and shook his head.

He and Scott had joined xaviers school roughly at the same. Logan had been there for a few years now, and togethor, they had had some close brushes with hell. He smiled, knowing that these two he considered his best friends out of all the X-men, the others simply being good friends.

Cyclops

Leaning back due to the force of acceleration Cyclops still glanced toward one of his oldest friends. He was happy that Beast selected him to go on the mission. He felt that it was fitting that two of Xavier's original students who met with Apocalypse when they were still with the first incarnation of X-Factor would face him if he was indeed the culprit.

As the Blackbird steadied Scott also admitted to himself that despite their differences there is no one he'd rather have stand with him in a fight than Wolverine. Still he felt uneasy. The video showed carnage unimaginable. What force could defeat Magneto and the House of M?

Scott knew he had to be ready to think fast.

"Hank, I agree that finding out more about this threat is important but equally important is our safety. I will keep the Blackbird operation to maintain a quick take off but....but if it is Apocalypse leave me. You and Wolverine get back to the X-Men and let them know everything we find. I'll hold him off so you can escape. If we are outmatched then it is better some of us escape then none."

"Dying for a scrap?" repeats Cyclops.

"Depends in what sense you mean." Cyclops jokes grimly.

Self Sacrifice is not something Cyclops takes lightly. But a foe with the power of Apocalypse would not be easy to fight.

Beast smiled.

'Scott, We have all had bad experiences with apocalypse before, me being Dark Beast and Logan being a Horseman. Ok, you have had it bad, but thats no reason to sacrifice yourself.'

He grinned, 'Anyway, i was under the impression i was the one leading this team? The comms will be easily openable so we can report all we find to to TJ and Justin. IF it comes to being Apocalypse, you can count on me being by you side till the end, exactly how it started all those years ago. When i wasn't a blue catman. heh. chances are we won;'t be getting rid of logan that easily either.'

Cyclops

Cyclops smiled at Beast.

"I promise, I didn't name you team leader just to second guess you. I know you'll keep us prepared. My experience in the field may be of use to us though. I'm worried about just walking into this one Hank. Hmm, I wonder. Hank shouldn't you and Logan be able to lead us right to where the House of M is now? You remember their scents don't you?"

Hank smiled, 'Logan should be easily able to do so.'

He turned and thought back to the video feed.

'Or we could simply look for a large amount of black smoke and carnage.'

He turned back to the consule and began to plan back ups, which he sent to the others back at the mansion with explicit orders not to open unless certain conditions were appeassed.

Mainly, their deaths or specific keywords.

Cyclops laughed to himself. No matter how insurmountable the odds, or dangerous the foe, Hank McCoy could always make him smile.

The Blackbird landed on the clear Nevada ground.

"We're here. What's the plan Beast?" Cyclops said.

Beast smiled.

'Now we lock and load, and do other insurmountable things that could help us but dont really fit into anyother phrase i can think of.'

He grinned.

'Gentlemen, shall we begin our investigation?'

In The War Room

Beast, Wolverine, and Cyclops left the holographic war room and headed off to investigate the possible return of Apocalypse. Julian had only read about the nearly unstoppable force in his classes, and was stunned that this would be his first test. He was also feeling slightly overwhelmed with the majority of the senior staff being out of the mansion at once. There was a lot of weight on his inexperienced shoulders.

The training began to kick in, almost more of a reflex than a conscious action.

“Ok, we need to restrict all the students to the Institute. They can still go to classes and all, but try to keep them inside in case something happens while Cyclops, Beast and Wolverine are investigating this. We should also keep our communicators on so if anything does happen, we’ll be able to react.”

God, I sound just like Scott, he thought to himself as he began to input the commands into the War Room computer.

“We should also keep the Professor up to speed on what’s going on. I mean, I’m sure he already knows, but he should still be kept up on what’s going on. Especially if this is really Apocalypse we’re dealing with.”

Julian remained in the War Room, listening in on the conversation as the three flew to Nevada to investigate the underground facility. He sent the others out to the Institute to help explain what was going on to the students and help enforce the closed-campus rules. He really didn’t like sitting and waiting, but needed to keep himself ready to react. He didn’t want to blow his first command opportunity.

It didn’t take long before he became bored sitting in the command chair and listening to the three in the Blackbird reminisce about old times. He turned his attention to another console and began surfing the web, killing time until something happened. He still had the Institute’s security and status monitor open on the screen to his left, but was mainly focused on the 1968 Charger that he had found for sale on the web. Besides, he thought, if anything happened in the desert, he’d hear it on his communicator, and if anything happened in or around the Institute, the screen to his left would alert him.

Wolverine chuckled to himself "Like I ever forget a scent." he said to the others.

As the blackbird touched the ground, wolverine unbuckled the safety harness on his seat and went out onto the cool nevada ground. "Not much to see boys." he said as he started sniffing the air. He caught the distinctive metallic smell of Magneto on the air, along with a host of other smells, "Well, Well, Sabretooth has been hanging around Magneto and them again." He looked to the northeast. "That way." he said simply as he walked off.

Beast smiled, constantly amazed by logans abilities. he quickly checked his comms and started walking, and quietly began to sing.

'We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz.'

Cyclops

Stepping off the plane Cyclops' visor flashed has he took in his surroundings.

Empty.

"No wonder places like are the site of choice to construct 12 story tall mutant hunting robots he thought."

Following Logan Cyclops headed in the direction that the feral X-Man's senses took him.

'Hmm,' sighed hank, 'Is it me or are we getting absolutely nowhere.'

It clicked.

'Wait we're looking for something above ground at the moment. Perhaps, what we are looking for is beneath us?'

Cyclops

"Beast is right. A sentinel complex as large as the one we saw would be visible if it were above ground. Even if it were cloaked we should be able to monitor the energy signatures in it. Hellion are you there? Can you give us a x-ray of the nearby area? We need a point of entry."

Tj re-entered the War room, completeing her patrol.

'The students are safely tucked away, and i've set the rest of the x-men up on short patrols around the perimeter.'

She sat down, and put on a pair of headphones, and noticed that helion was surfing the net and grinned, nudging him.

'Any news?'

Then she heard what cyclops had just asked.

Cyclops

"Hellion are you there?" Cyclops looked at the other X-Men quizzically and wondered what Hellion could possibly be doing.

Beast raised his eyebrows, why wasn't helion replying?

'Helion, where are you?, Nocturne, are you there? whats going on?'

He looked to Scott, confusion on his face.

"Helluva pick boy scout, hes probably surfing the net or some damn thing." Logan said, a bemused look on his face. "Your right though, it must be underground." he said keeping an alert watch on their surroundings.

Beast sighed as he heard Helions information and wondered what had taken him so long.

He turned to the others.

'Hmm, should we follow the breadcrumbs or take the yellow brick road?'

"Whichever Hank, as long as we get to the action soon." Logan said looking to cyclops "Your call boy scout."

Scott Summers pondered. A lifetime spent in battle had given him experience.

"Hmm. An adamantium steel alloy. They couldn't go all the way on adamantium but they wanted the entrance their as secure as possible. An entrance that small could never fit a sentinel through or even the parts to make it. It's probably a vulnerable spot they couldn't conceal. That's gotta be our way in. We may even be able to take whoever is down there by surprise." Cyclops said while beginning to walk off.

He wasn't telling it the others but he felt a strange force drawing him toward whatever secret lay in that cave. Maybe it was curiosity, maybe something else. One thing was certain, Scott was trying not to let the others show he was a bit disturbed by the course of events.

The way he programmed Danger he fully expected to be left behind on this mission. And the level of bloodshed he saw on the distress message was appalling. Danger Room or not, Scott Summers felt the need to find out what happened to Magneto and the House of M and the story behind the sentinels.

After a short walk, the entrance came into vision.

Walking up to the rocky formation Cyclops could see the entrance Hellion promised.

"Here it is" he says.

"The only question now is how do we get" before he can finish his sentence Scott looks closely to see that the magnetized door had already been opened.
