i'm sure there's some deep meaningful metaphor that i could conjure up from this that reflects on the nature of BDSM

however i'll just point out that the pic in "angelic assassins" sig line is actually a dolphin rather than a shark :)

i apologize if this has been mentioned before to him ... and i'm not meaning it as a criticism i actually think it makes the picture more fascinating

i have no idea if he is aware it's a dolphin or not ... but i think the way the picture gets mistaken for a shark is very cool

HEY! That is one seriously pissed off, boat-sinking, surfboard-bashing, man-eating, Flipper! VERY dangerous!

Or not. *GRIN*

I had to find a post by AA to check it out. And now I'm confused. I think I learned ones that dolphins have a horizontal back fin being mammals and that sharks have a vertical fin like all fish. It could be the other way round though  Someone help me and explain how you see that it's a dolphin and not a shark.
Does it mean AA is less dangerous? Is this a stupid question to ask?

This is up my professional alley, so to speak. It is indeed a dolphin and not a shark. The tail fin is horizontal, you just have to look at the picture carefully. If the tail flukes were vertical, they would be much more obvious in the photo as the top of the tail would be closer to the top of the water. Also the shape of the dorsal fin is a dead giveway.

Yes, dolphins, while being what we call a macro-charasmatic species, (meaning they are all cute and cuddly looking) can be very aggressive..which is one reason feeding them is a very bad idea.

ETA..never mind, cutie mouse beat me to it.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will assume cause somethings cute and adorable that it's safe to be around. Dolphins are wild animals. They have to defend themselves from sharks, orcas, and other scary animal. They have sharp teeth, for EATING MEAT. They are very strong, and very smart. Why in the world would people approach them? I mean, polar bears are cute and adorable, too, but I'm sure not going anywhere near one. Not without some heavy duty bars and glass between me and them.

edited to add: Actually that dolphin in his cig line is a very good analogy of AA. He can be a lot of fun to joke around with, be careful. He has sharp teeth and he bites.

It never ceases to amaze me either but I witness it often. There is a particular beach here that is home to a pod of dolphins that have been hand fed by tourists for years. It is not at all uncommon to to see people, with their little kids, standing out in the water trying to lure the dolphins with cheetos, etc. One day, some kid is going to get bit and then there will be a manhunt for the killer dolphin. It drives me nuts. By the way, feeding wild dolphins is a violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act and is punishable with a fine up to $25,000. It's much cheaper to go to Sea World.

I know - about the law that is. But people are generally stupid. I remember watching one of those tv shows that show people doing stupid things, and this one woman slipped past a barrier to go right up to the bars of a polar bears cage, where a polarbear was on the other side. She got badly mauled. I tell my kids to NEVER pet an animal (no matter what kind it is) unless they have an owner near by who says it's ok. I don't even let them pet cute fluffy dogs without permission from the owner. You have to be careful with animals! But people just don't seem to understand this, and then they act surprised when they get bit.

You are so right. Those TV shows are often called "when animals attack" or some such thing. I call them "when stupid people get what they deserve" LOL

You are very smart to teach your kids of respect all animals. I think it's a safe bet we will never see them on one of those shows! :D

Social Darwinism in action... the smart parent has children that stay alive and reach adulthood to pass on their genes.

(edited to remove the cynical comment about too many stupid ones reaching adulthood and passing on the stupidity... )

I saw a bumper sticker once that had me screaming with laughter. It said '10,000 sperm and you were the fastest?'

But I've gotten quite a few compliments from people with pets about my rule concerning petting animals. I also teach them HOW to pet them. (Things like letting dogs smell their hands first.)

i lost this thread for a few days ... thanks for whoever moved it i wasn't sure which forum to post it in as i haven't posted on the bdsm side of lit in ages :)

going on the dorsal fin on the picture i'm pretty sure it's a common dolphin

I am going out on a limb here .......that the intial pucker reflex remains unwavering , irrelevant of accurate marine biology....... :D

There is a real sense of trepidation when clicking on an AA link.

But as I didn't know it was a dolphin I guess I don't get to choose anyway.

So now all i have to figure out is if it is worth being dumb just so I don't have to click an AA link; or am I missing out on wonderful things because I am dumb

Clicking on an AA link is sorta like playing with yourself when home alone -
You are in you own hands...
If you don't tell, no one knows...
Just make sure you clean up any mess.....

and you will want to do it again in spite of yourself.... :D
