Rant starts here >>>>

Currently we are facing a shop lifting epidemic in our
part of the UK. After putting up with 6 months of my wife being made miserable by these young thugs, I have designed the
following card to be handed out to the ones that are suspects
but that she has no evidence on.

What do you think?

Anyone got any better discouragements?

Personally I would like to bring back public humilation
in the stocks on the market square as for certain the
current 'community service' sentences aren't detering these
people.

Great card.

Do you not think that giving to some yob might cause her more problems.

Funny

They estimate shop lifting in the US costs the other shoppers billions of dollars a year in price hikes.

Since we were originally your colonies mind if we borrow that card?

nope

I have the misfortune to play golf ocassionally with a 'professional' shoplifter and I gotta say that your card would not be a deterrent. Why? because given the leniency of the justice system there isn't much chance of shoplifters actually going to Dartmoor!

Btw he cheats at golf too!!

Mig > Yep I know it would cause more problems which is why its better just to have a rant here about it :)

Hatara > By all means borrow away :)

Jass > Apart from the leniency of the system, most thieves think they are smart enough not to get caught, but what can you do.
Saying that a mobile phone thief just got four years which seems
totally out of proportion. You can kill someone and get less than that. Why the hell are you playing Golf with a frigging thief anyway? If people turned their noses up and stopped being friends with these idiots it show them that their behaviour is not acceptable. Plus as with Hatara said, these people cost YOU money as well, every time you go in a shop hes robbed your paying extra pennies which go into his pockets.

As I really said you need a way to embassrass and humilate these people rather than to lock them up.

Cactiphile my friend!

long time no see.
hope all is well.

now, i like the idea of the card. LOL
i think it would be better if it were a large poster and put up on the walls of the store beside the notice that shoplifters will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

deterrant? i really dont know but it would definitly get their attention for a few minutes.

I have addressed this topic here before.
I believe that we should take a harder line than we do when it comes to this crime.
I personally advocate having the abilty to use any means at hand to deal with this epidemic.

I'm in full support of security personal carrying and using nightsticks, chemical mace, and perhaps firearms.

I know that this will horrify some people, screw 'em.
The fucking reason these little assholes do it is because they know they can get away with it.
I said it before I will say it again, is it worth your life to steal that small item?

Hey, be careful about making assumptions about shoplifters... I've shoplifted twice in my life. Once I was 5 and stole a pack of gum. The other time I was 14 and so desperately in need of a cigarette I couldn't think straight anymore...

I get followed around in every store I go to. Sales clerks trying to be "helpful" and peeking around corners at me. Just because someone wears a coat that they could fit half your stock into, doesn't mean that they Will.
