Thier site don't work.

I had to change browsers, clear cache, all kind of shit thier online support told me, and still the photos wouldn't upload.

5 times over a week I was trying for hours.

Getting headaches, talking to support.

Then I uploaded them myself to post.

Almost finished ...... last step ..... another glitch .......... shut down antivirus, turn off firewall, and type in credit card number, of course only for verification purposes.

How fuckin stupid do they think I am?

I kicked my computer and signed off.

Before I go into my own rant, let me offer sympathy to you.

It's down to companies, most aggressively, because they have most monopolistic power, Microsoft.

The Internet itself, from it's inception, has been based on non-proprietary standards. The World Wide Web Consortium has tried to promulgate the same ideals. In contrast, M$ promotes its own browser as 'better' than those standards and takes steps to subvert them.

Ebay imay well be a victim alongside you. In trying (I guess) to navigate between the standards and IE, I guess it has created a barrier reef without a passage for you.

I've a little experience from that side of the fence. Web code I've written met the standards, but didn't work in (at least some versions of) IE. In one case, the solution was to add a space that wasn't required by the standard. The failure caused by leaving that space out was that some pages on a site simply wouldn't load at all in IE (though some would reload!!!!!) Even more peculiarly, the failure only occurred when the code was run on a M$ server, when the same code was run on a Linux server, even IE could access the pages faultlessly.

As the Web evolves, there are issues. M$ maximises the problems for its own financial gain.

Maybe you didn't understand, it never did work. Avant browser, Firefox, IE7, IE after removing the IE7 update, all failed, photos never did load. At one point I clicked the spell checker and it went into some kinda endless spellchecking loop, and the only way out was a forcible reboot, my spellin isn't that bad. You may not believe it but I never use spellin checkers.

Anyways, shutting down my firewall and entering credit card number is what I would do if I had "fuck me" written on my forehead.

I have been damn near everwhere on the web, I have a new firewall since the time I was playing with an experimental proxy jumper, pinged a North Korean server, it crashed my firewall and dumped a virus on me. I dunno what the virus was supposed to do, it was an unheard of one, but also crappy north korean technology and so corrupted data and didn't work. But I had to dump my OS and re-load Windows to get rid of it.

I was once surfin around, lost as per usual, and on a site where I couldn't understand shit because it wasn't in english. I was gettin mad and tryin to make it display in english clickin all kinds of shit when it asked for my password. I just punched in some stuff and then it asked me to verify by stating my military rank. I was just laffin and about to leave but as a joke I typed in "Admiral, retired." It switched to english and I was soon surfin though the lists of Argentina's military hardware stockpiles. Quite impressive as I guess they intend to one day start a war with britian again and kick thier ass and retake the falkland islands.

So I think Ebay should be one site I should be able to get on and buy a used 4-slice toaster without problems, but noooooooooo.

My daughter had Vista on her laptop. It's now back to XP. It was either that or the laptop would have ended up in the lake.

Now if I could only figure out how to uninstall Media Player 10 and go back to 9, I'd be a happy camper.

There is a way. But even I who cheerfully and confidently wander into my registry and remove and change stuffs, have totally fucked up when I try to remove Windows programs which are not in the regular add/remove box.

If you are wanting video type thingies there is a player called VLC that will play almost any video, or at least almost any type porn movie, I checked. You can google it and download, it's free.

Yellow Dog Linux for the win! Then go back to Mosaic for a browser. Everybody complains that you shouldn't use Mosaic because it's not updated or supported anymore but really, is it necessary to update perfection or support something that always works?

They took a good thing, which wasn't broke, fixed it and made it broke.

I liked it and even bought a couple t-shirts from em a couple years ago.

I use Avant 11.0 build 45 and don't let it update. Perfect for what I want.
