Dallas Cowboys, America's team

I guess they figure, that after the past few years, Dallas can only get better... lord knows they couldn't get much worse.

I figure the HBO crew had watched...

...too much North Dallas Forty and hoped to catch that kinda action.

A more interesting team to profile would have been the ....um....Bucs?

Because until Jack Robinson and Rocket Ishmael went out, they were gonna be pretty good.

Mammas don't let your babies grow up to be Cowboys!

Doesn't matter how they are playing people just love them. Plus people love to hate Jerry Jones.

So you will have your folks watch becasue they love the team & those that will watch just to see what Jerry is doing.

Ice Cold,

Just wanted to compliment you on your AV.

It was sad to see such a great player decimated by an injury. He was the reason they won 2 Super Bowls.

Does anyone actually watch them..

From what i heard, HBO asked a number of teams if they would be profiled....the Convicts were the 5th or 6th asked and the only one to say yes.

I heard that as well. I was told by a friend I chat with in Nashville that the Titans were one of teams higher on the list (they are an interesting story.. Super Bowl runner rp, then heartbreaking loss in AFC semi final the next year, then total colapse depite experts think they would do well)

It's too bad they couldn't have been profiled.. I would have liked to have seen that.

Because they have been a lesser tier'd team in the past few years and appear to be on the mend. I think this year they (and the Cowboys did it) did it because of the name recognition of the Cowboys and also because Dallas is one of the Premier teams in the league whether it shows up in the "W" column or the "L" column.

and christianne, just FYI..........the coaching door may change at either Dallas or Washington but one thing remains the same

DALLAS owns the REDSKINS. Period. If we win one or two games and one or both of them come from beating the Redskins, that is a season completed and well done. Good Day!

And you can call them the Dallas Convicts all you want but the bottom line is they are a 5 Time World Champion and have been to many many more Super Bowls besides.

Amen, without Terrell Davis, Elway would have never gotten the chance to win 2 Big Games (and the converse is true also I think).

Why is HBO profiling one of the worst football teams?

They're not really profiling the Cowboys. Rather, it was a convinient excuse to get footage on Jerry Jones and his new $15million-in-plastic-surgery face. :D

That and to see if a former pitcher who hasn't thrown a football this decade can become the starting QB.

Your first comment is a good one and funny (and accurate to a degree)

However, Hutchinson will be a solid QB..........he could be a starting QB on any NFL Team despite that he hasn't played football for the past season or so.........(I think he graduated from Stanford in 2000? or 2001?).

Saw the Panthers vs. Cowboys Saturday night here in Charlotte and Hutchinson has tons of poise and tons of "game ability" and lots of intangibles.

As I mentioned to Ice Cold last night, Davis was the first non-Oiler/Titan I cheered on with any kind of enthusiasm.

If he doesn't make it to Canton, then there is something wrong. It would be like keeping Mike Bossy out of the Hockey HOF simply because his career was cut short due to injury.

TD was Da Man. No question about it. Class guy who got hurt trying to stop/block/tackle someone who had INT'd the ball and got hurt. Just a shame.

I am sure TD will be nominated when his time comes, he helped take the Broncos to the "next" level.

I haven't heard a word about drugs, guns, or rape.
Are you sure Training Camp has started?

Game ability and poise are great in pre-season games. But they don't translate very easily to regular season games. I think given that he's been away from football for a couple of years, he should ride the bench for a year, get comfortable and then start.

Its not like Quincy's going to be around for very long, no matter how much Jones' in love with him.

As for Hutchinson being a starting QB on any team, come on now. There are lots of teams where he would be a backup. Namely:

1) Eagles
2) Colts
3) 49ers
4) Raiders
5) Packers
6) Falcons
7) Rams
8) Bills
9) Titans

Hell, i'm a Giants fan and as much I think Collins needs a replacement but quick, i'd still have have Hutchinson ride the bench.

I will put it to you this way islandman, Hutchinson has more poise in Pre Season than Q. Carter has in Regular Season. Sure Hutchinson probably should ride the bench and "get into football mindset" again, but I think after a year of riding the bench re-acclimating himself and adjusting his skills, he would be a welcome starter on ANY NFL team. He has great arm strength, is tall, is strong, is smart and quite honestly is just a good solid QB. Mind you I don't think he is a Troy Aikman, Brett Favre or Joe Montana but he sure has lots of upside and at worst would be a solid QB.

Hell, I'd leave Collins in...........just get a better Offensive Coordinator and some Offensive Lineman. I actually liked Collins here in Carolina, just don't think he was given lots of weapons or a solid Offensive Coordinator.

also Shockey will help out the Giants a bazillion percent. He is a solid TE who will elevate their game IF they throw the ball to him.
