What's your word-count per day?

I write one page, per day, and stop. Thats 300-350 words.

0 at the time.

I don't have time for writing every day. With NaNo completed, I turned my focus back to school and work.

Days I did write, I kept at it as long as the words came.

I've tried every which way that exists, and what works for me is one page, and unfinished bizness. The mind doesnt like unfinished bizness, and unconsciously obsesses about it till the next day. Everyone has to find what works for them.

The other day I opened a document with a sentence in mind. That's how I begin most stories anyway. Plots and outlines I veer from too much to make them worth the time for me. I think I did about 150 words before the pull of homework called me back. But even that was something, you know?

Right now I'm fighting with my inner demons and insecurities, also it's a hard chapter to write, so if I get a few lines or a few paragraphs down, I feel pretty good these days. If I added a word count requirement, it would just end up being more pressure for me. When I'm in the groove, I just write and that's usually a whole scene, and I never look at how many pages or words.

JBJ, do you ever go beyond the page-a-day limit? Get absorbed and just run with it?

No. Today I stopped in the midst of a gunfight; I know how it will end and I know how the next scene will go, too. By leaving it alone it may improve by tomorrow. And such happens a lot.

A year ago I wrote and wrote and edited and edited; now I write a little, let it sit, and do very little editing.

I'll write at least 3,000 words a day unless I'm working on someone else's manuscript (and sometimes even if I am) or there is another activity eating up time.

My words per day varies all over the map. I may do zero one day and 5,000 words the next.

I take what I can get! ;)

And do some writing also. ;) :D

During NaNo, I decided to try for 2000 words a day. Not counting 4 days that work killed, I did it in 25 days. 50,000 words in 25 days. What surprised me was how little I had to edit. I don't think the number has as much to do with it as what you have to say does.
