Katherine Braswell lay down on the grass, feeling the heat from the sunlight beat down on her as she bathed in it's comfort. She could hear the soft running of the stream not to far from her, which connect to the lake just a few yards away from where she was laying. She sighed to herself, thinking about recent events and life.
She didn't really even know why she choose to come out here today. It was a lovely Saturday, with everything seemenly perfect to go to the lake. She had always loved the lake...not for swimming or camping...but to just lay in the cool spring air with the scenery around her.
Her love of the lake began when she was very young, back when her parents were still married. Her father took her to this very lake from time to time in spring, to just sit and enjoy it. Katherine's memorys of spending time with her dad were important to her, since she never saw him again after her mother ran him out of the house.
Her dad got ran out of the house because of his profession....or as her mother put it, his lack of one. The truth is that Katherine's father was a drug dealer at the time of the divorce. He had been doing it since he was a teenager, so he really didn't know that much else in terms of a career. At the time her mom ran him out, he was going up in the drug world. He was becoming more heavily involved in the actual production and shipment of drugs within the United States. Katherine's mother felt that if she stayed with him for any longer that they might end up in a situation where Katherine might get hurt. So, she dumbed him...taking Susan with her far, far away.
After Katherine finished high school, she decided to move back to her old home town. Since she was raised by her mother (who has a questionable past), Katherine was raised to be be rather modest...which this town fit perfectly. Small town, not really well known or anything...and safe. Her father was probably the worst thing to ever come close to that town. From what Katherine knew, the people her father was connected to had some big house away from the busy life down in Miami where all the true work was. That was another arguement for the sepration...in order to be successful at his rather risky job, he would have had to move to Miami...but Katherine's mother didn't want to go.
All of that was besides the point as Katherine sat up light, looking at the sunlight bouncing off the water in a shimmer of color. Sitting there, wearing a pair of demin shorts (to mid-thigh), a grey t-shirt (with a rather angry looking Mickey Mouse on the front), and of course sneakers and socks.
At the moment, Katherine was thinking about this guy who had been hitting on her at her job, as a waitress. Yeah, not life altering, but comfortable enough to be happy in Katherine's eyes. Anyway, this guy asked her out for later tonight, but Katherine hadn't decided if she was going to go or not. He had giving her his number, which was in her purse (currently in her car, which was parked on a little road just within site of Katherine).
Katherine never was that into dating much. She wasn't even sure why that was. She wasn't a virgin or anything...but she just couldn't get into the whole dating and relationship thing. She had the looks too to get any guy she wanted, with long blonde hair, 36c breasts, curvy hips and ass, flat stomach, and long legs. She stood about 5'10", which put her in a good super model range. But that life was never sought by Katherine, or her mother, who Katherine looked exactly like. If you compared pictures of high school with each other, the only difference would have been the styles of clothing and hair.
Katherine pulled herself up off the ground and made her way back towards her car. She had the day off, so she wasn't in any rush...but she had told her roommate (like she could afford a house by herself on a waitress' salary...so she lived with a friend to afford it) that she was going to be back from the lake before long to help with some chores. Katherine was climbing into her car right when she heard a noice from the trees a bit away from her.
