Dachshunds

i love dogs and cats, always have. spoil the fuck out of them. the dog is my eyes and ears. she knows when things ain't right.

we would be equals if not for the fact that i have thumbs and can open the magic food bucket.

I agree that we rarely agree.

I also have a 50 gallon tank of platys, and they breed relentlessly and a banded milk snake in a huge terrarium, which I feed on a monthly basis.

What's life when you take on fish?

50 gallons of platys? Not even one tetra or zebra or guppy?

The landlady has four horses. Each of them was a competition thoroughbred in his youth, and each got injured or old, and each would have been relegated to the dogfood factory if left to the whims of their preppy former owners.

At her place, they are fed, have a place to graze and roam and do horse stuff, and they have a strict barn cat who disciplines them, said barn cat also working for her keep by keeping the rodents away from the grain. There are also two goats who were rescued from neglect.

Inside her house live 3 dogs (they're also largely yard critters this time of year) and 5 cats - all rescued. She doesn't have to worry about having mice. They all live and weren't euthanized. They are all cared for.

So, yeah, some kind of animal rights emancipation proclamation is a wonderful idea because a philodendron thinks so . . . .

You are wrong. I meant it...dog and cat owners humanize their “pets”.

Owning a sentient being and training it to behave the way you want comes from the same twisted self-importance as slave ownership.

It’s a valid comparison, one pet owners should feel discomfort about.

It depends on the owner.

My dog just farted
And I never felt so connected and alive lol.
Like we're all in the same boat & fallible.
Also, before they go to the toilet, they throw these "I feel so vulnerable right now" seemingly embarassed, endearing looks.
