Da Rulz

The Same

As far as I know the rules are the same:

No underage sex
No sex with real animals, dogs, horses, cats, donkeys etc.
No snuff violence, or extreme non-consensual

Unless I have forgotten something that should handle it.

Was there something you had read on the site that made you think there had been a change in the rules?

Largely that I have not been able to find them for several updates, and that on other site that have erotica under the free speech protection have been more free with submissions.

What qualifies as snuff?

And does underage mean the same as if we were actors in a pornographic film, or what is legally consenting?

In my state that is a 5 year difference.

These are my definitions as you correctly point out there are no firm written variations. If anyone has anything to add feel free.

Snuff is killing of someone during the sexual act, as part of a rape, or maybe it just turns them on.

Underage is under the age of 18.

Hmmmm I'd have to go with 18 as well...even though a lot of states have varying laws on it...18's a good setpoint, while granted its sometimes harder to work with High School SL's its still a good defined setpoint that won't offend anyone

18 will ensure no calls of child pornography, even though no children were involved in the creation of the stories. I think the chyoo.com owners just want to make sure noone tries to arrest them.

Everyone knows that high school stories that state someone is 18 or 19 are generally just put there for the rule's sake. (At least I do.) High school seniors (12th Grade) are 17 when they enter school in September (generally) and could be 17 when they graduate (summer birthday -- 1/4 of the student population). College freshman will almost always be 18 by the time classes start. In the US, that is.

So, just subtract 1 from ages given in high school stories and you've got a more accurate number.

What about stuffed animals? :)
Well, I hope that's okay, since I've written a thread with Mr. Cuddly, a large stuffed bunny, having a threesome with Jen and Willow, the bride, in Get Me To The Church On Time.

I think you are safe having all the furry fun that you want to. When you get down to it, people are still having sex, albeit with some interesting props.

Sorry, I should have put a smilie in my post. I know that stuffed animals are OK. Sarcasm is lost on the young.

We'd be alright if this was a Japanese erotica site.
yea and nea they have weird rules about "expicit material" as long as it was intend for non japanese readers, but they will censore stuff made by Nihonjin for Nihonjin. I can't say how written erotica is seen over there.

Hey you know what sucks? It's illegal for Americans under 18 or 21 depending what state to read erotica, but can you imagine what the literacy rates would be like if this was subject matter for our schools LOL!!! :p

The problem is not the age of the person, but the situation, if it is a consensual situation and the minor involved understands what they are doing, I think it is OK. It is just so hard to draw lines here. I think everyone thinks that two sixteen year olds fooling around is OK, but if a forty year old guy starts to fool around with a sixteen year old, of either sex, then it gets not so OK. So much emotion is involved in sexual situations that I would not want to try and be the judge in some of the cases they must see.

I was reading a book the other day, The fantasy series by George R.R. Martin, and he has a sixteen year old girl getting married and obviously having sex. I got to thinking that here is a mainstream novel that could not be posted on Lit, yet no one is saying that Martin broke the law?

Bottom line is a line has to be drawn somewhere and I think 18 is a pretty good place to draw the line. The problem is that good judgment is not shown by too many people in the world.

What nationality is George R.R Martin?

He is American by birth. Here is way more information than you asked for:

George R.R. Martin was born September 20, 1948 in Bayonne, New Jersey. His father was Raymond Collins Martin, a longshoreman, and his mother was Margaret Brady Martin. He has two sisters, Darleen Martin Lapinski and Janet Martin Patten.

Martin attended Mary Jane Donohoe School and Marist High School. He began writing very young, selling monster stories to other neighborhood children for pennies, dramatic readings included. Later he became a comic book fan and collector in high school, and began to write fiction for comic fanzines (amateur fan magazines). Martin's first professional sale was made in 1970 at age 21: "The Hero," sold to Galaxy, published in February, 1971 issue. Other sales followed.

In 1970 Martin received a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, graduating summa cum laude. He went on to complete a M.S. in Journalism in 1971, also from Northwestern.

As a conscientious objector, Martin did alternative service 1972-1974 with VISTA, attached to Cook County Legal Assistance Foundation. He also directed chess tournaments for the Continental Chess Association from 1973-1976, and was a Journalism instructor at Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa, from 1976-1978. He wrote part-time throughout the 1970s while working as a VISTA Volunteer, chess director, and teacher.

In 1975 he married Gale Burnick. They divorced in 1979, with no children. Martin became a full-time writer in 1979. He was writer-in-residence at Clarke College from 1978-79.

Moving on to Hollywood, Martin signed on as a story editor for Twilight Zone at CBS Television in 1986.

In 1987 Martin became an Executive Story Consultant for Beauty and the Beast at CBS. In 1988 he became a Producer for Beauty and the Beast, then in 1989 moved up to Co-Supervising Producer. He was Executive Producer for Doorways, a pilot which he wrote for Columbia Pictures Television, which was filmed during 1992-93.

Martin's present home is Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is a member of Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America (he was South-Central Regional Director 1977-1979, and Vice President 1996-1998), and of Writers' Guild of America,
