One hand sign that might work is to:
1. Make eye contact
2 Make a fist and have the thumbside of your fist pointed to your mouth
3. Move your hand back and forth from your mouth
4. At the same time push your cheek out with your tongue.

I was hoping this thread woudl have legs...
I am also a biker but not too serious. I think the important thing would be where you ride. Some rides with good places to stop and start a conversation. Places with views or rest stops. Even better is hiking with a group where you can walk near someone and have a conversation and keep switching around to talk with a variety of people. My wife used to hike with the AMC in New England and she got hit on often by male and female. It was always subtle but the hints were there.
