In this new era man has evolved to where the use of magic or psychic energy is possible to a selected few and mercenaries/treasurehunters have become common once more.

Mercenaries and treasurehunters, much like their earily prediceors, still take on various jobs of exploration, protecting and the recovery of personal or magical items. These brave adventurers hope to one day find fame and fortune in their adventures to either live an easy or simple life or to simply fill their need of adventure and excitement.

Our story focuses around two such people, as they unkowningly receive the same job from a mysterious man who had requested to meet them in secret. His promise was of fame and fortune beyound their wildist dreams for the recovery of an ancheint book, that was said to have belonged to a goddess know as Elana, located on a planet far from their own galaxy.
To help seal the bargin both were givin a handsom amount of moeny in advanced with the promise of more once the job was complete.
Now for their own reasons both will travel to the isolated and seemingly deserted planet and land upon the sandy surface close to tomb of Elana.

Unbeknowing to them, others have taken an interst in the book as well and dispite their extensive skills in their profession they both will soon find themselfs traped in a situation neither of them had been prepared for as they experiance the curse of Elana's book.

Sierra Tikhon Arrives

It had been on the planet of Mahir that Sierra found the man who had called for her. It had been quite annoying to hear that she would have to travel across the Intim System to get to him and this 'job' but he was promising quite a pretty penny so how could she say no to that? She wouldn't... It was that simple.

Mahir was a planet of shops and black market trading. There were plenty of slaves for sale and enough men and women buying to keep it going. Sierra had no need for such slaves, they were just more work than they were worth as far as she was concerned. She ran a hand through her light long hair and sighed at the thought of having to talk to another dirty old man. They seemed to be everywhere on this planet and she was barely clothed.

Her twin daggers remained tucked in their little sheaths at her sides. He gun strapped to her thigh for easy access and another hidden on her back with her hair blocking it from view.

Into the shop she strode ignoring the guard when he tried to stop her. She knew what she was doing. The smokey interior was not to her liking as she waved at the smoke with her hand trying to clear it from her face. It was making her feel ill but there was obvious someone smoking a flavored cigar... and the closer she got the more apparent it became that it was her would be employer smoking the foul smelly cigar.

She remained standing.

Sierra was a well known thief, she was hunted but usually had no trouble evading capture and losing her persuants. She looked down at the old man. "You called for me Dalmas..." She wasn't really asking. She had never met him before but she knew him through some pretty interesting offers from before. She had done work but was usually paid by his guards.

They didn't trust her apparently.

"Ah... Sierra," he said. The girl knew now that he was blind. "You are right on time yes?" he asked. His guard answered with a stiff yes. "Good... Perhaps you have heard of Itheon?" He asked.

"The dead planet sir?" She asked.

"Yes... Have you ever been?"

"No, it's a planet who's ruins have been plundered..." She frowned. "There's nothing good left it's-" She was interrupted by the old man waving his hand at her impatiently.

"There is a temple beneath the sands of time...." he paused, she was guessing he did t for dramatic effect. "Elana's temple..." He said.

"It's a myth..." She said.

"It exists... and I will be paying you handsomely if you get me Elana's book..."

It was later when she left with a heavy purse she was sure the old man was crazy... And on her way out... she saw another man enter.

"Hm..." she thought...

Maze sighed as he walked down the steaming streets of Mahir. It had been awhile since he had come to this planet and now he remembered why. The place was filthy, the air thick with smog and the smell of ash everywhere, since the entire planet was more like a giant slums filled with scum and rats, and not the animal kind that was found on earth. Because of this Mahir's cities were built upon great steel slabs that suspended the city off of the ground safe from the mutated creatures below.

No one with the money or the ability to leave this planet lived here, but it proved to be a great place for low lives and thieves to hang low if they needed to since law wasn't really enforced here. Mahir was also a great place to find parts for ships or other items that were normally hard to find.

Looking up Maze found that he had finally reached his destination, a small shop pawn shop in the back corner of a dirty block. Brushing his long raven colored hair aside Maze entered the shop and was greeted by the thick smell of cigar smoke and two large and rather ugly guards who blocked his path and gave threatening faces.

"Hmm well hello there"
Maze said while tipping his cowboy like hat to them.
"is their someone by the name of Dalmas hee...?"

"Mr.Dalmas is currently with another gust...he will be with you shortly." One of the guards said suddenly cutting Maze off.

"oh...well okay.. I hope it's soon because I didn't exactly come all this way to just stand around when I could be making money elsewhere."

The guards frowned but otherwise remained silent which caused Maze to sigh and then roll his eyes as he started to wonder around the rest of the shop. Various trinkets hung everywhere, some beautiful while others were just odd.
Whoever this Mr.Dalmas was he certainly liked to collect things and had a weird taste in art.

His attention was pulled away from the shiny trinkets then as something else much younger and beautiful caught his eye. A women, not just any women but a scantly dressed one left the backroom.

Arching his eyebrow in question Maze looked to the other guards who nodded to him and he made his way in giving the girl a sideways glance with his emerald eyes as he passed by. Who was she? and why was a girl like that here? Maze found himself wondering as he entered Dalmas's main room.

"ah welcome Maze."
The blind old man said.

"Have a seat..theirs much we need to discuss."

She figured that even if she couldn't find the damn thing she would at least get to keep this money. She was going to try though, sure, why not? If no one else knew about this ruin then what did she have to worry about? The coordinates had been sent to her ship and she was on her way. She didn't want to have to stay here too long...

The sandy planet was a full twenty hours away and she was ready to get there, look around, and go home. For now she set the auto-pilot and laid back to relax. She was going to be so rich when this was over and then she would be able to get a nice home and never work again...

That was the dream she was looking forward to living.

~~~20 hours later~~~
Sierra woke from her slumber and managed to land the ship not too far away from where the site was supposed to be. She climbed from the ship and locked it all up before pulling out the tracker that the old man had sent with her. It was supposed to show her where the 'front door' was at it were. She knew that there was something strange going on.
"I don't see it..." She said to herself. And it was then that the ground gave way below her. She screamed and grabbed onto a large rock that was jutting out over the newly made hole...
"Oh god oh god... I'm gonna die," she said kicking her feet in the air trying to get herself up and onto the large rock.
"Twenty hour flight...ugh...how boring." Maze said outloud as he leaned back in the pilots seat of his ship and pulled his hat down over his face. The destination of his new job was Itheon an isolated or rather dead planet located on the other side of the galaxy, it was far but with his ships hyperdrive something like that was nothing.
A small and flat floating screen suddenly flashed infront of Maze and two large cyan cat eye came into view and blinked a few times.
"~hee hee All the more time you get to spend with me master! nyaa!~"
The picture backed up then to reveal a cute faced Neko with white hair, cat ears a tail and was wearing a red and black body suit.
Maze pulled the rim of his hat further down and his emerled eyes went to the screen before rolling them.
"yeah don't remind me." Maze said in a sarcastic tone.
"~aww why is master so mean to Meeve!~" the digital girl complaned while pixilated tears fell from her face.
Maze sighed and the pushed hismelf upwards as the screen floated away slightly.
"Hey Meeve...can you run a background check for me..on the planet Itheon."
The digital catgirls ears suddenly perked up "mew?...okey dokey." Meeve said with a smile seeming to completly forget that she had been crying only a moment ago.
The image of Meeve blanked out then replaced by a long list of green text that fell accross the screen. Soon schematics of the planet were poping up in other screens and Meeve's voice came back then.
"The planet Itheon.
Water percent 0%
Natural Resourses 0%
Inhabitants 0%
Planet bio...
Once a lush place with tons of plant and animal life it's nothing more then a big ball of sand and dirt now due to irratical weather effects and increaseing tempitures. mew~
Before the planet became a wasteland life forms did exist there but not much detail is known about them....
What is know however is that they were a very religious group, who worshiped a goddess by the name of Elana and had built many temples in her name. mew~
Cause of extinxtion unkown, sceintist beleve inhabitents to have parished due to the change of the planets atomosphere and now all that remains is their temples which have all but been cleaned out by historians, treasure hunters and theives."
"Except one"...Maze thought as he continued to read the green text that moved downwards on the screen. Apprently their was a book that held great importants to Dalmas and Maze had been paid well in advance for it's retrival with even more promised on his return. Maze didn't know why this book was so important to Dalmas and when he asked him Dalmas only said the book would be a great addition to his historical collection of other planets.
Whatever Maze thought. If the old man wanted books to read in his last days of life and still be able to pay him for it he didn't care.
"~Master! I feel like singing, can we sing a song while we travel togeather?! nyee~"
"100000 bags of cat nip on the wall one hundred bags of cat nip!! take one down and pass it around 199999 bags of cat nip on the wall!"
"guh..please Meeve..don't do that.."
~~~20 hours later~~~

"Thank god..." Maze said as he steped/piled out of his ship onto the desert sand of Itheon

"~hee hee bye bye master be safe. mew.."

"yeah...I'll try and do that.."
Maze responded as he straitened himself and looked around. The air was hot, so hot that Maze was glad he left his usal grey jacket behind and was now dressed in a white shirt and brown jeans. His belt carried two holsters each holding a phaze gun within them and strapped on his back he had a shovel and a black rifle like gun with a long blade that extended along and past it's barrel, also known as a gunblade.
Pulling his hat further down over his eyes to block the sun maze pulled out the strange device Dalmas had givin him to locate the burried temple.
As he was about to turn it on something caught his ear.

"Oh god oh god... I'm gonna die,"

Quarking an eyebrow Maze followed the shouts until he came into view of another ship and then a familer looking girl who was haning off the side of a rather large hole.

Moving over to stand infront of her Maze peered down at her and chuckled.

"Well that dosn't look like much fun. You really should be watching where your going and not fall into big holes like this."

With her in this position Maze couldn't help but to see down her shirt and get an eye load of her ample bosoms cleavage.

Sierra heard the footsteps of someone approaching and she was surprised. Wasn't this hell hole supposed to be uninhabited? She was soon staring up at a man in a cowboy hat. She recognized that face from yesterday at Dalmas' place. God why was he laughing at her like that...

Was he an assassin? What would people think of her if they knew that she had been outdone and killed by a simpleminded assassin.

"Well that dosn't look like much fun. You really should be watching where your going and not fall into big holes like this."

"Help me out..." she said grouchily. "The ground fell out from under me..." Sierra started to explain as she tried to hoist herself up again. She was sure that if her just gave her a hand she would be just fine.

She was getting pretty tired... "Just please help me..." She saw him looking at her chest... she didn't care right now... right now she was intent on living and not falling into a bottomless pit of dispare. She soon found herself up on the rock, she was tired and weak from the hour long fight of trying to pull herself up... So she just leaned against him trying to regain her strength.

And then her heart fell into her stomach as she felt the rock suddenly shift violently.

"Just please help me..."

"heh sure thing... miss?"
He asked for her name as he bent down and helped her up. Being closer to her now he reconized her as the girl he had seen back at Dalmas place which could mean one of two things.

One: she was sent here to watch over him so he wouldn't pull a fast one and take the book for himself, or Two: was sent here by Dalmas to kill him when he wasn't looking. What better place to get rid of a person then on an isolated planet right?...of course having picked her as an assasin might not have been the greatest of idea's seeing the predicament she had gotten herself into.

"I'm Maze and it's a pleasure to come to your rescue little lady."

The sudden sound of earth cracking and the earth shifting below their feet scent a shiver up his spine as he laughed nervously.

"eh heh heh...aghhh!"

A second later both of them found themselves plummeting down the darkened hole.

~~~
The hole wasn't a strait fall in fact it curved and winded around like a giant slide sending both of them tumbling downwards quickly with nothing to grab onto until the hole opened up to a stone floor and Maze crashed head long into it
"ahhhh mmph!" Maze landed with a heavy thump and started to get up before registering the sound of the girl shooting out from the tunnel behind him.
"eh? ack! ugh!"
With another heavy thump he now had the women on top of him pushing him back to the ground and causing him to cough a little from the impact.
"..well that was fun.." He said after a moment and looked up to Sierra who's face was extremely close to his.
"you know it's not everyday I have a girl fall for me after just meeting them."
"heh sure thing... miss?"
"Sierra..." That was it... that was all he needed to know her by that was for sure.
"I'm Maze and it's a pleasure to come to your rescue little lady."
She looked at him as if she was going to ask him if that was some kind of cruel joke but it never got the chance to leave her lips. She heard his nervous laughter... like it was some kind of a joke he didn't get or something...
"eh heh heh...aghhh!"
A high pitched scream found it's way from inside her chest as the hole swallowed them. There was nothing for them to grab onto to slow themslves down or stop themselves from plummeting further into the hole.
~~~

"ahhhh mmph!"

"Oh God Oh God! Ahhh! Oooomph..." She yelled before landing atop the man with a loud 'thump'...

"eh? ack! ugh!"

She groaned at what had just happened. God, she was sore. And how the hell were they going to get out of this mess? Well, it was obvious that they were going to have to help each other out of this perdicament.

"..well that was fun.."

Sierra stared down at him. "I was just thinking the same thing...." She mumbled as she just laid there on him for a moment. She knew that all of her muscles would be in some new kind of pain. She looked down and met his eyes.

"you know it's not everyday I have a girl fall for me after just meeting them."

"I can't imagine why not..." She said poking his forehead before rolling off of him. "Oh... So what are you doing here?" Shea asked as she started to get up. "Did Dalmas send you here?" She asked thinking that it was best not to mention the treasure if he didn't know about it.

"How do we get out of here?" She asked.

"Oh... So what are you doing here?" She asked while starting to get up and off of Maze, much to his disapointment.

"Did Dalmas send you here?"

Standing up and dusting himself off Maze nodded lightly while sizing Sierra up and took into concideration the possiblity of taking her out.
After all there was only one book and one reward and if both of them had the same goal here things were going to get a little complicated.

"Yep, and I'm taking it he sent you here for that book as well didn't he...."

"How do we get out of here?" She asked suddenly while looking around.

Maze took the moment then to glance around and found that he could see absoutly nothing. The entire area they had fallen into was pitch black and the only light source came from the tunnel behind. From what he could see, they had fallen into some type of underground cave with two possible ways to go.

"Not sure but look at the bright side. We only have two choices to choose from. Left or right?"

While he wasn't too keen on possiblity helping a rival Maze figured it be easier to work togeather with her for now.

"Not sure but look at the bright side. We only have two choices to choose from. Left or right?"

"Well..." She said trying to think this all over. "We know where that leads..." She said pointing back to the light... "...and we know that we can't get out of there..." She said sounding a little frustrated about that. "Do you have anything like a flashlight?" She asked. She had figured that there would be torches and so she had a lighter.

She wasn't well prepared so sue her.

"Let's head deeper inside and see if we can find a way out through here." she said. She didn't want to go in there alone with this man, not knowing exactly who he was but she would have to hope that they could help each other out...

... and then she could steal the book right out from under his nose.

"Do you have anything like a flashlight?"

Upon hearing Sierra's question Maze reached down to his belt and pulled free a small device that looked like a rubber ball.

"mmhmm"
he said smiling as the small device started to hum and then levitate off of his hand. A second later the small ball flared to life as it's entire body started to glow brightly and illuminated the entire passage around them.

"Let's head deeper inside and see if we can find a way out through here."

"What ever you say ma'am"
Derrick responded as he took up a position beside her and started moving further into the tunnel.

"So...you've been doing things like this long?"
Derrick asked as he glanced back at her and started to make small talk with her. After all if he was going to be traveling with her he may as well strike up a conversation and try to get to know her. Even if what she says was nothing but lies it definitely would beat moving together in awkward silence.

She was grateful that he had the flashlight. It was a good one too because it lit up the whole cavern.

"What ever you say ma'am"

She smiled to herself at that and was fairly sure he saw it. Well, he was being a smartass might as well just play it off for now.

"So...you've been doing things like this long?"

"Long enough that people know who I am and request me by name," she said looking up and meeting his gaze. She would have said her name had they not already exchanged them. "And how long have you been doing this kind of thing?"

They kept walking but it was turning into the neverending walk.

"So... How much did he offere you?" She asked suddenly, they had mostly been talking about stupid nothings that didn't matter in the long run.

"Long enough that people know who I am and request me by name"

"Really? hmmm Sierra...Seirra Serria..nope dosn't ring a bell. But then again the only people I talk to are the ones asking for my name instead."

"And how long have you been doing this kind of thing?"

"Eh..you know...awhile..."

He was having fun with their conversation dispite nothing really being awnsered. He wasn't here to make friends with her after all just pass the time until he could ditch her and "make it out with the goods" as they used to say years ago.

"So... How much did he offer you?"

Maze instantly knew what she was referring too and thought about it for a moment.

"Well..enouph to have me and you travel accross an entire galaxy to a dead and uninhabitable planet like this. I think it's safe to say it was alot. Don't know what's so important about this book though... did he tell you anything? or where you as poorly informed as I was?"

"I don't deal with the nobodies...." She chuckled at him as he teased her. Honestly did he think she cared about the people he dealt with. Unfortunately it was hard to say such things when she was stuck

She smirked at his other response. Men were really such odd creatures sometimes. They continued to walk through the lit cavern.

"Well..enouph to have me and you travel accross an entire galaxy to a dead and uninhabitable planet like this. I think it's safe to say it was alot. Don't know what's so important about this book though... did he tell you anything? or where you as poorly informed as I was?"

"All I know.. is get the book and go back to Mahir," She explained. Sierra stumbled and fell into the theif. "Shit..." She said trying not to look so clumsy. "He seemed really secretitive about it... I know that he is tired of not getting any. " She comment before laughing...

"I'd go to hell first..."

Maze smirked as he listened to her returned comments, he liked her, in a rivalry sort of way. She didn't let his teaseimg get to her and had actully thrown an insult right back at him, where as most females would simply bitched and find the closes thing that wasn't latched to the floor to throw at him. He was used to having to dodge strange projectiles that were thrown at him but it certinlly was a nice change to know that she was perhapes diffrent.

"All I know.. is get the book and go back to Mahir,"

Maze opened his mouth to say something in response but suddenly saw her trip over a partially hidden stone that sent her crashing into his side, where he raised his hands to help balance her.

"Shit..."

"no rock" He said with a grin and being the smart ass person that he was.

Hearing her next comment as they continued moing also forced a chuckle from Maze.

"I hear ya."
Maze said and was about to say something else when he suddenly came to a stop as the tunnel opened up infront of them.

Maze then gave a long whistle that echoed.
"wow would you look at that.."

The small ball of light Maze had with him slowly floated forward, revealing a gigantic room that looked to have expanded endlessly in all directions. The path ahead of them still remained however no walls were now present and looking over the side only revealed more endless darkness.

Directly ahead of both of them they saw two gigantic doors that stretched all the way up to the celing of the cave. The stone door itself was black in color, worn and a little dirty from age with ruines and designs written all over it.

Infront of the doors and along the path to them, piles of skeletons bones could be seen some from which still had bits of flesh and pieices of clothing from obvious treasure hunters or explores that had met their end here. As to what Maze didn't know.

Moving forward slightly Maze kicked one of the bones and let it fall over the side and much to his displeasure he didn't hear it hit a bottom.

"heh try not to trip around here miss Seirra. I doubt we'll be able to get back up from this fall."

"no rock"

For a moment she had no idea what he had meant. Sierra looked at him and shook her head. "And you're not in the entertainment business?" She asked sarcastically as they continued on.

The tunnel opened and there was this gigantic room... but only their itty bitty path remained, the rest was dark and she guessed that it was meant for an escape to be hard for a treasure hunter to make.

"wow would you look at that.."

Her eyes found the door too and the bones were a surprise considering that this place was supposed to be some big secret. She frowned but didn't move from her spot next to this man.

"heh try not to trip around here miss Seirra. I doubt we'll be able to get back up from this fall."
"Hmmmm..." She agreed as she started forward. There was no need for her to be afraid. Sierra, aside from just a moment ago, was ever the graceful creature that could dodge, duck, dip, dive... and dodge.

"I don't know what happned to them... but... I wouldn't mind not ever finding out," she commented as they crossed the huge room. She could hear strange sounds and while she looked... she didn't see anything... but that sure as hell didn't mean that there wasn't something there.

"Did you hear that?" She asked when she heard a soft sniffing sound.

"I don't know what happned to them... but... I wouldn't mind not ever finding out,"

"no problems with me not agreeing with you there." Maze said lightly while moving forward along with her. As they drew closer to the large doors Maze could hear a few sounds coming from above and his violet colored eyes scaned over the rouph surface of the ceiling but didn't see anything. Looking back down Maze stepped over one of the skeletons that was in his way,
whatever had happened to these people Maze was going to make sure it didn't happen to him and kept all of his trained senses on full alert.

"Did you hear that?" She suddenly asked as they reached the large doors.

"Just the wind lovely."
He said as he placed his gloved hand over the door and brushed away some of the dust that covered it.
With the light more on the door now maze could make out an odd writing on it and strangly enouph it was in a language he could understand.. or at least partially make out since some of it was done rather sloppily.

"...ye who enters upon these sacred grounds of our goddess Elana, shall suffer a thousand deaths...let Eleana's curse bestow upon thou that takes the holy book and their bodies burn from the heavy weight of their sins.. all glory be to...bla..bla..blaa..bla..bla..blaaa."
The anchent text went on for quite a bit but Maze was already growing bored with it and he turned back to Sierra.

"Well apprently this is it and someone put up a big warning sign on the door."

"Shall we really follow it's instructions and leave here?"
Maze said with a rogueish smile already guessing what her awnser was going to be.

Turning back towards the door Maze rubed his hands togeather.

"Alright then leave this to me, it looks like a heavy door and since I'm the only guy here I'll open it." Without waiting for a reply from Sierra he lifted his hands up to the door and started to push against it.

....nothing....

Putting his back against the door he pushed again.

...still nothing...

"uhhh...heh it's stuck...mind giving me a hand here?" he asked sheepishly.

"Shall we really follow it's instructions and leave here?"

Sierra was going to answer with a 'Hell no!' but he was already going all gungho on the manliness. She had to admit that it was kind of funny to see him trying to get all pumped up...

"Alright then leave this to me, it looks like a heavy door and since I'm the only guy here I'll open it."

Why wasn't she surprised when it didn't budge? She didn't know but it was proving to be quite funny. "Ummmmm..." She managed but there he was pushing away at it again...

"uhhh...heh it's stuck...mind giving me a hand here?" he asked sheepishly.
She smiled.

"Oh no... I think you're right... You're the only man here so go at it some more," she said with a devilish smirk. "I would love to see how all of thos rippling muscles will move the door..." She said with a shiteater's grin on her face.

She moved forward with minimal prompting from him now that she knew that they were going to be closer to the book. She didn't know what the man wanted it for.... but he did want... and was he willing to pay...

Maze frowned at her teasing but otherwize ignored it, the book had to be behind these doors and the sooner he got to it the sooner he could leave this place and her.

"Yeah yeah just come over and help me push." He said as she finally waltz over to him and started to push on the doors as well.

The doors were heavy even with both of them pushing on it, but togeather the large door slowly started to part and within a few minutes both doors were open revealing another darkend room.

"After you my dear."
He said lightly and followed quietly in tow behind her.

The temple was dark but once they had entered a few steps in a sudden burst of light ignited as flames licked upwards from giant dishes along the sides. The dishes extended all the way to the other end of the room where an alter could be seen along with a giant golden statue of a women looking downwards and her arms outstretched downwards as if she ment to embrace someone.

Beutiful orange tapestry's with various designes decorated the walls around the statue and one even flowed over the alter and to the floor where it extended all the way to to where Maze and Serria was currently standing.

Up on the alter an object that looked kind of like a book could be seen that was propted up from a golden stand.

"Well...looks like we hit the jackpot." Maze said as he drew closer wanting to make sure first that it was indeed the book he had been givin the task to find and be paid for. If it was Maze would be ready to act and already he found himself reaching behind him, unclasping the small lock that held his gunblade firmly to his back. If she was to make the first move before him now, he would be ready.

"Yeah yeah just come over and help me push."

Sierra waltzed her cute little ass over there so that she could help push. Honestly, to make such a big deal aobut being a man and then not being able to open the door? It was amusing to say the least.

The doors were a lot heavier than she had certainly expected. But they were big huge doors and could they be expected to be light? They both pushed against doors and with the it took a few minutes with the two of them...

"After you my dear."

Sierra really didn't feel all too comfortable walking in front of this guy that she didn't know and was probably going to kill her if she didn't get him first. But as a sign of good faith she walked in first, fingering the gun strapped to her body. She would hear him it he attacked... and if he was that good then she wouldn't feel bad dying at the hands of someone better than her.

She was a bit jumpy...

So when the large discs burst into flame and lit the room she pulled her gun and just barely refrained from shooting at it. Well, it wouldn't have done any harm but it would probably have made Maze suspicious.

"Goddammit that freaked me out..."

Beutiful orange tapestry's with various designes decorated the walls around the statue and one even flowed over the alter and to the floor where it extended all the way to to where Maze and Serria was currently standing.

She looked around the ornately decorated chambers and had to admit that it was a beautiful sight. there was so much treasure here... This just proved that there was no way that anyone had found it and lived to speak of it yet. She knew that she was coming back for seconds after she returned that book.

"Well...looks like we hit the jackpot."

"Yeah..." She agreed as she looked back at him. He was... What was he doing? The thought struck her suddenly and so she pulled out her gun.

"Why would you be reaching for your weapon Maze?" She asked. "there's no reason for all of that yet..." Her body sparkled with sweat, from the sheer heat and the pushing of the door, she smirked. "Do you really want me to have to kill you?" She asked with a smile before starting her walk down to the book. She wanted to see it first... At least know why they had been sent all the way out here to this hell hole for this fucking book.

"Could be a trap... You touch it..." She suggested with a serious face.

"Goddammit that freaked me out..."

Maze blinked while watching her and couldn't help but to snicker.

"Why would you be reaching for your weapon Maze?"

She asked having noticed him unclasp the lock to his weapon. "fuck..."
Maze said inwardly to himself, she had better senses then he thought.

"there's no reason for all of that yet..."

"Eh what are you talking about I just had an ich."
Maze said throwing up a cheap lie but otherwize looked athentic since his hand was now scartching the back of his head. He knew she was smarter then that but their wasn't any reason to break their playful feigned trust just yet.

"Sheesh treating a nice guy like me as a bad guy..how mean..I'm hurt."

"Do you really want me to have to kill you?"

Maze shruged at that. "Wouldn't be the first time someone wanted to kill me."

All attention seemed to go the book then as they finally approuched it.

The book much like the room was heavily decorated. Encased in a hard golden binding with ruins and red gems over it's cover.
A lock could also be seen binding the book togeather but other then that it just looked like any other expensive book.

"Jeeze..someone had alot of free time and moeny.."
Maze said sarcasticly before a suddenly silence washed over the two of them.

"Could be a trap... You touch it..."

"pfft chicken.." He said under his breath and continued towards the book.

Maze now stood two feet away from the book and kneeled down lightly, letting the book come to eye level. He then stood up and proceeded to walk around the entire alter slowly looking both above and below the altar as he inspected it from every angle. He wasn't stupid, especially if it was something set up all pretty on an alter like this which just screamed trap.

After a few more moments of inspecting the alter Maze gathered enouph guts togeather to reach out and tap the book, before pulling away quickly.

...nothing...

reaching out again he touched the book.

...nothing...

Wraping his hand around the top of the book and pulling it upwards quickly.

...nothing...

"heh well that was easy" He said turning around only to find Sierra's gun in his face and he sighed.

"Wouldn't be the first time someone wanted to kill me."

"I can't imagine why...." She said her voice thick with sarcasm. She was finding him funny but he was pretty annoying to. She just knew that there would be problems... there were always problems.

"Jeeze..someone had alot of free time and moeny.."

She had to agree... That book was ornate as all hell and it was just sitting there. Someone must not care about such a thing but there was no way because there was a lot of money put into such a thing.

"pfft chicken.." H

She didn't care about the childish nickname but the other jumpin in and out and in and out was enought to make her giggle at him. "Ok... well I may be a chicken... but at least I'm not stupid..." She said laughing at him.

"heh well that was easy"

"Too easy... but no nearly as easy as it should have been," She said as she kept her gun pointed at his face. "Now just hand me the book," she said trying to keep this from turning into an actual gun slinging brawl.

"Too easy... but not nearly as easy as it should have been."

"If it was too easy then there wouldn't be any fun in this little adventure of ours."
He said smiling smuggly despite having a gun pointing at his face.

"I guess that's why fate had us meet."

"Now just hand me the book"

"Sure thing babe...here CATCH!"
He said with a sudden and overconfident smirk and then actually tossed the book at her. Time suddenly seemed to slow as the book left his hands and up into the air and he watched as she became distracted with the book for a quick moment, which was all he needed. He dashed at her then tacking her with both his arms wrapping around her slender waist and forcing her into the ground.

"HA! gotchyaahhhh!"

His moment of triumph suddenly became dashed as he felt her leg push upwards to his stomach and then promply threw him over her body from the floor. Falling behind her Maze held onto his cowboy hat as he rolled onto his feet and jumped out of the way just in time to avoid the first few shots from her gun. Bringing out his own energy gun from his belt. The book landed on the floor with a light thud and now laid on the floor still closed and somewhat forgotten as Maze returned fire and beams of light started to fill the room like a light show between Seirra and Maze.

"Sure thing babe...here CATCH!"

She gasped when the book was suddenly thrown into the air. There was that part of her that looked to the book, and by the time she looked back at that bastard he was charging her. She gasped when he suddenly tackled her to the ground.

"HA! gotchyaahhhh!"

"You son of a bitch!" She growled as her leg came up under his stomach and she sent him flying off of her. Sierra rolled over and fired at the mother fucker but there he was running. The pretty girl watch him as he pulled out his own gun.

The thief ran for cover, ducking behind a column and immediately returning fire. She didn't want to kill him, she didn't know why she didn't but she didn't. She just wanted to maim him...

Just a little bit.

She moved out a little ways from the column and gasped as a beam grazed her cheek. Great... now she was going to have a fucking scar. She fired back hoping to hit him with her good aim and his lack of skills. Of course he was skilled but she was tired of giving him compliments.

She stopped firing and waited for him to peek out and once he did she shot that stupid ass hat right off of his stupid fat head. She laughed seeing the hole she had put in it.

"Nice hat Maze..."

He had dived behind a pillar taking shelter from her shots as the beams of light tore holes through the wall and pillar around him, slowly giving him less and less shelter by the second and sending pieces of rock in every direction

"Geeze talk about over kill"
he thought and then dived from his degrading pillar to another nearby one. As he did so he took aim and fired his shot just as she slid over from her own pillar to take another shot at him.
The energy pulse flew true and towards it's intended target but ended up missing and grazing her cheek which burning her face slightly.

There was a moment of silence between the two as Maze blinked and watched a quiet range of a woman's wrath burn within her eyes.
"Shit" Maze said out loud and ducked behind pillar again as an onslaught of beams proceeded to pin him down.

"I didn't mean it I swear!" He yelled over the gunfire.
He really didn't mean to aim high on her and the thought of killing such a pretty lady just wouldn't sit well on his conscious. Though Maze knew it was kind of stupid and risky, he only wanted to hit her shoulder and disable her from using it to fire back at him.

The gun fire stopped for a moment and slowly Maze stuck his head out just in time to see her fire another shot at him from which he instantly pulled back behind the pillar. He was okay of course but suddenly his head felt a little colder and lighter and on the floor he could see his cowboy hat with a fucking hole in it which caused his jaw to drop open.

"Nice hat Maze..."

"Y...Y..you fucking bitch!"
he yelled turning around the corner of the pillar and sliding his gun blade forward to be firmly grasped within both his hands while he charged her outright.

"That hat was a fucking antique!"
He said as he turned his blade sideways so the wide end of it covered him and reflected the first few shots of her weapon.

He had narrowed the distance between their bodies in a matter of seconds and he slashed downwards at her as he came into range.

The sword smashed into the pillar, missing Serria by just a few centimeters while the pillar exploded of rock and dust.

He watched as she jumped further away from him performing quick somersaults with amazing agility like a freaking cat. He had to admit she was amazingly skilled and if it wasn't for her earlier decision to fill his hat with holes he might of even complimented her. THAT! wasn't the case however and he charged her again his blade raised and slashing at her as she continued to dodge him.

"Do you know how hard it is to get a hat like that? It cost me quite a penny to have that hat customized!"
he said actually making conversation in their deadly dance of dodging and reflecting.
