I was just wondering how long does it usually take to have a story accepted and submitted on here? It has been like 4 days since i submitted it to the site. Just curious is all cause it is my first story putting on here, I always write poetry. Thank you

Hi and welcome! :rose:

Sometimes it may take up to 2 weeks, depending on eg monthly nominations, special competitions, lots of submissions etc.

Hope the wait doesn't kill you. Cheers, WT :D

For whatever reason the time it takes for stories to be accepted has been much longer than usual over the past few weeks. It seems to be around eight or nine days wait at present. It had been three or four days before this, which I guess spoiled me. The waiting is the hardest part. Good luck. :catroar:

Interesting. I was just looking for a place to ask this question when I spotted this. I made an unfortunate mistake on my last submission, had it rejected, corrected it and resubmitted it but its been two weeks and I was wondering if I was "being punished" for breaking the rules. Guess not. Its just a large workload.

As hard as it is to get volunteer editors to respond, I thought I could do better than some of the work I've seen so I signed up to be an editor and it just stays in "pending" state. Maybe we're just paying too much for this service ... ?!? ROFLMAO.

All in good time, I guess. God give me the patience to ...

Whatever you do, just don't go back into it again once it has the awaiting approval / pending status. If you do that, you end up at the back of the line again. ;)

The last story that I had posted took eight days from the time I submitted it until the time it posted. I currently have one that has been pending one day and a revised story that has been pending for five days. In my experience, when stories are edited and resubmitted, it takes longer than if they were just submitted. I don't know why this should be.

Like DW said, don't look at it when it is pending, unless you have to, or the wait will start over again.

The advice of not to look at a story while it is pending is very helpful. I made the mistake of checking the version submitted each time. Maybe that's why it took so long. I'll try a different tactic next submission. :)

I have a bad habit of going back and looking at stories, probably because of the primitive computer skills I possess. I wish there was a way to keep your place in line and still take a peek back at the story, but that's life. I'm not sure how many readers will be persuing the grounds on Easter Sunday, so maybe it will be better to have things go up after that. :cathappy:

I read in another thread that they're doing some kind of updates to the servers, adding another one or something like that. Apparently, this happy site has grown to the point where they need more power.

From what I understand too, is there's only one person who reads/ approves new submissions, and she's up to her eyeballs in work.

I have no problem with that. I do a final edit and then submit the story immediately after. I write and edit on my HD and copy and paste when I sumit it. If I feel the need to do further editing, I look at my HD copy and if I see anything that needs to be changed, I change it there and re-submit. If I see nothing that needs to be changed, I do nothing. My stories are never going to be   perfect   but once I am satisfied, I leave them alone.

Improvements?

Approvals may be getting better. I had two stories posted within 24 hours this weekend.

Were they Earth Day Contest entries? If they were, that's why they were approved so quickly. Contest entries take priority over others.

Poems tend to get accepted quickly too. I have a revised story submitted and it has been eight days already. The revision has ten views already and is still pending. I have two new submissions also pending but they haven't been in that state all that long so far.

Right after I wrote this post, I checked. the revised story has now been posted.
