You're right on the money about using Gatorade. Decades ago, I read about Gatorade laced with honey being the best thing for hangovers. I put it to use once on a cousin that damn near drank himself to death on a 3 day bender. We took him to the doctor later, who said it saved his life.

Gatorade replaces the electrolytes that are leached out of the body by peeing so often, the potassium in the honey helps quell the urge for more alcohol and helps the heart function properly. You can also get potassium from a banana if you don't have any honey at home.

If I remember right, the recipe called for several teaspoons of honey stirred into a 16 oz cup of gatorade.
