Small biz investor/entrepreneur discussion group
In light of current U.S. law that provides for food shipments to Cuba. With the understanding that said shipments of food must be paid for in cash. These are my first questions.
1. What are the ways that the normalization of trade can come about with the desired minimum effects on what is unique to Cuba and the maximum positive effect on those peoples who are living in harsh conditions?
2. What goods and services are needed and can be traded within the bounds of current law?
3. What goods and services can be afforded by the larger population during this time of transition?
4. What goods and services are needed and what can be afforded by the hospitality industry?
a. At the level of Casa Particulares, and Paladares.
B. At the level of Hotels and Restaurants
I realize that there are many other questions concerning these food issues and also many other realms of possibilities in other fields. At this moment food is what is allowed by U.S. Law and what is most needed and affordable. The question of medicine is beyond my scope of knowledge, and far beyond my financial means.
Since the latest hot topic over the embargo being eased has only provided contentious debate concluding that everyone wishes for little or no franchise American business. This thread raises the challenge to fellow Cuba lovers how can we influence the inevitable changes, to maximize the positive effect on those peoples who have the greatest needs and still satisfy the investment concerns of the entrepreneur.
