Thank gawd I multitask! :D

I would just like to say, for the record, that algebra sucks. Two whole weeks and finally a letter appears in my problems. I'm a week ahead of the class, about to get four weeks ahead. This is algebra hell. I should have taken the stupid test and done College Algebra.

Anyway, a question for the teachers in the know. I need to get a hold of elementary school math speed drills. A good number of them in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I am accurate to the point of the disgusting when there are letters. When it's just numbers I still use my fingers to figure out how much 9 + 3 is. I need to speed up. Any idea to find 'em?

Anyway, I had a lovely salad full of spinach for lunch with a delicious ceasar dressing on the side. Don't throw up, but I eat my salad sans dressing. I meandered around the local career expo and spoke to employer recruiters all over the place. They wish I spoke Japanese and Chinese fluently. Korean made them stare at me blankly. Except the Accenture chick who was concerned with superconductors.

That and I'm on a gateway where the monitor and the cpu are all whacked together in one super slim arrangement that I think is just fabulous. There is a reason they chain these things to the floor, I assume.

I've also decided to get a degree in English while I'm here. Everyone needs fluff classes, right? I figure that I can pay for an extra year to get the rest of the stuff that I need for the degree once I get the first one. After all, I can do a lot with my current Major.

Who'm'I kidding. I'm never leaving college again, am I. *sighs* mournfully. You know how much this stuff costs????

Though there is a women's rugby team. I am in paradise.

if you want Mulitplication speed drills take a spreadsheet program grid 1-9 or 1-12 if you like vertially on the left margin and horizontally on the right print and do your math....

i did that for a while till i got pissed and built in an equation to fill in the squares for me.... that was faster.....

Look in the magazine section of your local grocery store, or almost any other store, and you should find several selections of flash cards for basic arithmetic.

(PS: or you could just take up Cribbage.)

If the grocery store doesn't have it (good suggestion, WH!) check your local yellow pages under Teacher's Supplies or something like that. They'll have what you want, for sure.

Sounds like you and I are taking the same class, but I've already taken this same fucking class and got a B in it.

I have to take it because they took the class, renamed it, and claim it to be Applied Mathmatics for Landscaping and Law Enforcement students (required of the degree) but that it is just College Algebra all over again.

Well, I am not that mad, I just hate math, but figure that I don't have a complete grasp of things like radicles, and their relationship with dealing in negatives and shit. I have the order of operations shit down pat, and I am excellent with scientific notation, and other related areas, but you throw in the need for the square root of a fraction, and I get all blurry.

This class is actually supposed to be taught differntly. I am supposed to be taught how to calculate the need cubic yards of mulch for a given area.... not how much jet fuel, and how long it took Johnny to get from Budapest to LA. Or how Eratosthenes figured out the circumference of the Earth, which I already know.
