Okay, I have a question. How unusual is it to see a cross-dressing top? Maybe I just live in a more diverse community, but on any given party night at our local club, I can name 4 cross-dressing PYL's who are very likely to be there; and 2 more that are there about half the time, and a few others who show up sort of randomly. I'm not counting the switches, even. We've got a bunch of CD switches. And this is in a fairly small club! We have about 140 paid up members and a "core" group of highly active members of about 50-70. Parties tend to draw about 30-50 people twice a month unless it's a special occasion when we're packed.

Shankara, is your group pan-fetish as ours is? If our numbers are fairly high on the cross-dressers, that's the only reason I can think of.

When I lived is San Francisco my BDSM community was pansexual. There was no way to categorize a player by any external expression – including dress or noticeable gender parts. I had dear friends that I asked at each play party “what gender tonight?” As a sub at the time it made me crazy to call someone “Ma’am” only to be called up short for not saying “Sir”. It was not at all unusual to see all manner of CD’s playing out Top/Dom(me?) roles – in that community there were queen and king CD’s - once I got over never knowing what to expect the parties were a blast.

I am now in the middle of the conservative U.S. heartland. The BDSM community here is primarily straight married - he = top she = bottom (topping from the bottom) - with a few master/slave players. The GLBT BDSM community here is very very leather. Any hint of fem = bottom.

I miss my pansexual community.

Thank you Shankara, for answering me. It's funny, this town is so conservative I was thinking if we had 'em everywhere, there must be some in other conservative places. Our community is small enough though, that if we didn't have a pan-fetish club there wouldn't be much of anything. I mean, there's not enough lesbians, or gay men, or femdom couples to make a group of their own. It's been tried! We can't even get a TNG or a MaST group going!
