I'm driving across the country from WA to VA next week. Does anyone have any ideas of how to make the journey exciting? I'm into just about anything, as long as it is fun.
Whether you're taking I-90 or I-80, at this time of the year, the weather should take care of the "excitement" for you. <g>
You are in for a minimum of 24 hours behind the wheel through some very flat country once you cross the Rockies. I don't think there is any way to make a drive like that "exciting."
Since you asked your question on this site, I'm guessing you want some ideas for making this drive sexually exciting? Aside from the obvious and very dangerous possiblities of casual sex with hitchhikers and truckers, I can only think of one way this site could be of use to you.
Get a tape recorder, and a patch-cord for the "line out" to "record in" on the recorder. Then record all of the audio stories onto cassette.
That ought to be enough to keep you "excited" about as far as Snoqualmie Pass (from Seattle). <G> You should have them all memorized by the time you get to VA.
Of course, if you've got the money for an MP3 player, you can download the stories and make them portable that way.
Please do drive safe and wear your seatbelt. At this time of year, also make sure you have water, food and blankets for a day or two of being snow-bound.
I'm sure that all of us would like to hear you made it to VA safely with a whole library of stories to write for us about how exciting your trip was.
Driving cross country in winter is putting one's fate at the hands of the capricious weather gods. My desire to spice the trip up with some adventure or two enroute were eclipsed by my desire to survive the ordeal.
Cold! My god was it. It never topped 28 degrees the entire trip. Which took by the way, if anyone is wondering, 65 hours to go from western Washington to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I divided that up into 5 1/2 days of driving. The worst stretch weatherwise was crossing the Cascades. I counted 8 vehicles spun out between the pass and Ellensberg. From there on the roads were clear. I was holding my breath and watching the weather channel in the motels very closely.
My only sexual experience the entire 3320 miles was of an auto-erotic nature. You know what I mean. One hand for the wheel, the other...
But now I'm back. At least, at a computer. Still on the Eastern Shore, I'm wondering what kind of fun I might find to pass the time. Any takers?
