Fire and wind come from the sky,
from the Gods of the sky.
But Crom is your god,
Crom, and he lives in the earth.

Once giants lived in the Earth, Conan,
and in the darkness of chaos they fooled Crom
and took from him the enigma of steel.
Crom was angered, and the earth shook!
And Fire and winds struck down these giants
and they threw their bodies into the waters...
But in their rage, the Gods forgot the secret of steel
and left it on the battlefield.
And we who found it,
not just men, not Gods, not giants, just men.

The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery.
You must learn its riddle, Conan,
you must learn its discipline.
For no one, no one on this world can you trust
not men, not women, not beasts
This you can trust.

Do you ever feel like strapping on the banded-armor and going out into the Gladiatorial Arena in front of cheering mob to do battle, I know I do. Or how about fighting the bloodthirsty Vanir raiders in the small, cold village in the snow-capped Hyborean mountains of Cimmeria?

If you could by born in any age, at any time (whether real or legendary) what time-period would you choose and what would you be?

Oh its not mine! :)
It’s a quote from the movie where Conan's father tries to pass down his wisdom to him.
The movie has surprisingly good dialog if you take the time to sit and listen instead of concentrate soley on the action.
It should since Oliver Stone co-wrote the script (or at least co-directed it), either way many talented people had their hand in on the first Conan movie.

And now they are making another! Yay! :D

A Prayer

CROM!
I have never prayed to you before,
I have no tongue for it.
No one, Not even You,
will remember if we were good men,
or bad.
Why we fought,
or why we died.
No,
All that matters is that two stood against many!
That's what's important!
Valour pleases you,
so grant me one wish,
grant me REVENGE!
And if You do not listen...
Then The HELL WITH YOU!

Conan! What Is Best In Life?

"CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES, SEE THEM DRIVEN BEFORE YOU, AND HEAR THE LAMENTATIONS OF THE WOMEN!"
*That is good!*:D

I like the part when the narrator-

I love the part when the sad, love-lorn song plays in the background as Conan leaves Valeria in her bed sleeping as he goes to take King Osrick's daughter back. It shows him riding in the mountains in his kick-ass armor and asking a bunch of dumb hippie cult members where to find Thusla-doom's Mountain of Power.
The narrator says:

They Told Him To Throw Down his Weapons and Return To The Earth.
HA! Time Enough For The Earth in The Grave!

:D

The Riddle Of Steel..

Doom says, "......do you want to know the riddle of steel? It's the least I can do. Steel isn't strong boy, flesh is stronger! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?...."

*It's been awhile, I think the dialogue is correct* :D

HOW FUCKING DARE YOU POST A PIC OF THAT SORRY EXCUSE FOR AN ATLANTEAN SWORD KNOCKOFF!! IF JODY SAMPSON (the designer of the swords for Conan the Barbarian) WAS DEAD (which he's not, thankfully), HE'D BE SPINNIN' IN HIS GRAVE!!

THIS is the Atlantean Sword, the sword of Conan!

sorry, it's just that i work at a knife store which sells a lot of replica swords, both functional and display quality, and, frankly, that sword you pictured can be easily aquired for around $60 retail. unless that's the one that's a step up, in which you might, might, be able to double that price, maybe.

well, that, and fucking love that sword, and if i had the $2,500 to get the lower of the two editions, i would, and if i had the $10,000 to get the one handmade by Jody Sampson himself, i would in a heardbeat!

okay, working from memory

"see there, that beautiful girl up there on the rock, come to me my child *she steps off the cliff to fall to her death on the wooden platform* That is strength, boy! That is power! The strength and power of flesh! For What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength of your body, the determination in your heart, I gave you this! Contemplate this on the tree of woe, crucify him!"

You were close, but no cigar, I'll have to consult the movie for the exact phrasing, but if you add this to yours we should have it 95% right.

actually, if punctuated propperly, that's pretty much right on.

Personally

I would rather consult some old pagan manuscripts in some dusty old library of an archeology department somewhere and then learn the trade from a Blacksmith and forge and ensorcell a blade myself with my own two hands-That would be the best ace scenario IMO.

A $60 sword? Come on, that must be with some insider discount or something. I have a kick-ass one that's similar and I got if for a bargain at a gun show for like $120 or so.

that's the Pakistani model. actually, i was wrong. there's three different ones i know of: the Pakistani special ($60), the one by United Cutlery (around $120, unless they jacked up the price), and there used to be a functional one, but i can't remember who made it. that last one is (hopefully) the one you got, and it has a carbon steel blade and used to run around $140-180, i THINK. we've never had one in b/c the functional one isn't made anymore and the two that are still around rather suck; the boss won't order them as he doesn't like them.

Mine is functional, I know I have at least two photos of it somewhere along with a shit load of other weapons on a table. However, it was on the old computer so its on a disk somewhere. If I find it I will post a picture of it tomarrow since its pretty fucking late (or early) where I'm at now.
