Since some time I am looking for a critical porn history (erotic literature, arts, cinema) but obviously there is no serious study of this genre besides the work of Linda Williams.

Thus, I am looking for people who are interested in this subject and want to write something critical about the genre and the industry that goes beyond superficial bourgeois morality.

Welcome to the AH.

Though you might be looking up the wrong skirt here if you want serious critical porn history.

I just googled "History of Erotica" and got 15,800,000 hits. Surely there must be something there.

I know Amazon has quite a collection and there have been several scholarly books on the history of sex in the cinema. Years ago Playboy magazine ran like a six-part feature on sex in the cinema that was very well researched. There are books on the history of pornographic 8-pager comics and sex in the pulps, sex in Victorian literature and Roman pornography.

It's such a big subject, though, I doubt you're going to find any one book that covers it all.
