So tonight I’m driving through a part of don’t I don’t normally frequent. It’s a 50 mph zone, but everyone goes at least 65, so I’m powering up the hill when suddenly a strobe light flashes in my face. “Oh crap” I say to myself, remembering references in the news about these new automated speed enforcement cameras going up.
The rest of the way home, I’m creeping along doing three mph under the speed limit, wondering how a $200 speeding ticket is going to fit into my budget. (I was out on that side of town dropping off a promo pack for some musician work - which I probably won’t get. Wrong venue.) I get home and check the internet. The fine is $183. However, this is the trial period. They aren’t issuing tickets until after April 20. This week they’re only sending out warnings.
I just made one-hundred and eighty-three freakin’ dollars for breaking the law! (Well, sort of.) Now I can go buy that six-pack I’ve been looking at in the liquor store window!
