And he did with out having to do a thousand recounts, but the startling upstarts the Canadain alliance blew away the rest of the field to pull in a fairly substancial 2nd place finish despite being a realtive unknown new patry.

So as it stands the Liberals have a firm grasp of a third straight term in office, some thing that has not been done sicnce the world war.

And more is the pity BT.

A couple of months of recounts seems like a pretty palatable alternative today.

Did you happen to catch "Double Exposure" last night? They did a hilarious piece on the twit. All about JC's comments on Stockwell Dave and the Appliance Party.

I missed that but I am sure it will be replayed and i will be waiting.

You have to admit that the Canadian alliance did a pretty good job for being the major under dog

Freakin PC hold outs!

Not good enough unfortunately. They were projecting an Alliance win in Freddy Beach at one point and I was doing handsprings of joy.

The Pc's came in last place and Joe clark was on Cpac this morning saying how that noone was finding the Canadian alliance as a viable alternative yet how come the Canadian alliance got 66 seats to the PC's 12 or is that just Old Joes Fuzzy Math?

Personaly I like Joe. I also believe he ran the best campaign of the lot, especially when you consider the PC's meager resources.

I will tolerate their continued existance only so long as they promise to run Catherine Clark (Joes daughter) next time. How did an absolute UNIT like that come from a gargoyle like him?

Somebody hiding in the wood pile ya' think?

I Would have to think that there are outside circumstances that resulted in such a product as her.

i think next election things are going to be looking even greener, you have to admit that they did a damn good job for being new.

Day needs to get himself a "Party Whip" and fast. They made a decent showing but too many of their candidates came off sounding like loose canons or lunatic fringe types. It had to hurt them badly.

None of them sounded worse than dear old Elsie Wayne though. I swear to god the next time I hear that old crone talk about herself in the third person I am going to snap.

How old is Elsie now she got to be nearing her 200th with Joe as well.

Did you get my last email?

Yep, just replied. Elsie was older than dirt when Christ was a corporal.

I appreciate the need for politicians to do some self promoting but merciful God she is nauseating.

I used to live in Saint John when she was big there and she was just as annoying then as she is now, she does some great things for Saint John, but if she could just keep her trap shut.

Dagnavit I just took another look at Catherine, she is fine, it wouldn't matter what her platform I would give her a vote by punching a hole inher card ;)

a much different point of view

Bobtoad, the Canadian Alliance are not new and they are not upstarts. It's the Reform Party with a new name. They made this big change in an attempt to gain support in Ontario. They won just 2 Ontario seats, when they were hoping for as many as 20. Day's speech made it sound like a victory, but you can be sure he was sorely disappointed.

I'm so glad the Conservatives achieved official party status and Joe Clark will continue to fight the "unite the right" movement. As long as the PC's stick around, vote-splitting should keep the Alliance from gaining major ground.

On another topic, the Liberals won some unexpected seats from the Bloc Quebecois in Francophone Quebec, which perhaps indicates a diminishing interest in seperatism. Good news, I think.

Please do not take this as a hit against you, but what you say about the Liberal's sounds like what would be heard from a person close to the capital. Maritimers have been screwed over by the Liberals and the PC's for far too long.

Yes I know the Alliance is a remolded version of the reform party. Yes I know that there eyes are mainly on the west. But I am sick and freaking tired of Jean Creitien {sp}giving all his Ontario friends kickbacks and payoffs etc.

And If bubmling old Joe would step aside for that sexy Catherine, I could stomach even listening to the PC's.

I am sorry, I apologize if I have offended you.

No, of course you haven't offended me. I know my perspective is much different than yours and Expertise's. That's why I posted.

I cannot understand how you figure the Alliance would be better for you than the Liberals or the PC's. You want change - that I can understand. But I can't see the Alliance being a change for the good. Nope, not at all.

By the way, it's spelled CHRETIEN.

Well its comes to a choice of change of either The Canadian Alliance or the New Communist Party, I mean the New Democratic Party. I have long been screwed over by the Liberals and the Currently the PC's. So its CA or NDP and NDP doesn't turn my crank, thus leaving CA and Day as my choice.

I can't speak for BT Sally, but to me a vote for either the grits or the tories is a vote for the status quo. Something I don't find appealing.

In a way you answered your own question. I don't care what a government can do for "me". I can look after "me" just fine. I want them to look out for the best interest of Canadians as a whole. Not Atlantic Canadians or Central Canadians or Western Canadians. Canadians and Canada as a whole need to be put first.

Ahead of the special interest groups, the lobbiests and there political friends. Alliance platforms with there notion of recall and accountability virtually eliminate that possibility.

Something like that will be the best solution to keep our parliamentry democracy intact and viable.

IMHO

you know Expertise That was one of the things I liked most is that recall thing if they screw up. And that they are against the status quo

You probably think I'm a victim of spin doctors (along with the rest of Ontario, apparently), when I say I see a lot of scary things in the Alliance platform. But I like to think I'm relatively well-informed and can think for myself.

Stockwell did not do an adequate job defending himself against accusations of a "hidden agenda". He seemed to say whatever he thought people wanted to hear, even if it meant changing his story. I like the analogy I read somewhere comparing him to a used car salesman.

You're right, the status quo ain't great. I think a PC government would have been better, but that wasn't gonna happen, so I voted Liberal just to make sure they'd keep the Alliance at bay.

Sure, why not? Hey, the Marijuana got 605 votes in my riding. Maybe THEY'LL win next time!! lol

I think it proves there wasn't a viable alternative. Wondering where all the other Ontarians are... c'mon guys, I need some back up over here! lol

Yeah thats if the people of Ont. stop voting Lib..

No Offense to Ontarians but The Ontario vote is always going to be the born and bought Liberal vote. I have three Uncles and a couple of other reltives from Ontario, lived there all thier lives, and they tell me it is true, that Liberals can do absolutely no wrong in the eyes of an Ontarian. I asked them to explain it and they said , they couldn't they said they dislike the Lierals but vote Liberal every time.

I really was looking for the "none of the above" box. I only voted for the green party becasue I couldn't find that box..

Ontar-ar-ar-ario
