OOC: THis thread is a continuation of Creed's Rane. It is an open thread.

Creed

It was midday before I awoke. Rane was curled up next to me, still asleep. Now was the time to let her rest and regain her strength. There was only a dull ache in my shoulder now. I moved away from her slowly and gently as not to wake her. I moved to the fire and got it going again. First I started by making some tea, and then set about fixing a hot meal, something neither of us had had in at least a few days.

I looked out the cave entrance, we were somewhere new, this cave wasn't on as steep a hill as the one we had entered. The trees were different as well. 'Where were we?' I thought to myself as I cooked some bacon and heated some biscuits on the stones next to the fire.

Rane woke up as I was finishing the meal. The food smelled quite good, or at least I thought so.

"You woke up just in time for some hot food and tea, Rane" I say to her as she rubs the sleep from her eyes.

Rane opened blurry eyes then smiles aprecitivly though she looked out of the cave with confusion "Were are we?" she asks excepting tea and blowing steam off the serface of it "How's the arm? thse things bit you pretty hard"

"I'm not sure where we are Rane" I say to her. "The shoulder is better, but it still aches. I was actually hoping you could tell me where we are. The group I was with wandered a lot. The area around your village was new to us."

I sip my tea and eat some bacon and a biscuit as I sit down next to her.

"We should stay here until you are well enough to travel. I know that the time in the tunnels was rougher for you than it was for me." I say in between bites.

Rane was just as lost she leaned back sipping tea and not making comment about his off handed refrain of her being mroe delicate.

Likely cause it was the truth, she wasn't no enhanced super soldier like him. A melding of magic and technological breakthroughs

She sighs and leans back against the cool stones of hte cave wall and closes her eyes knees drawn up and just being, quiet.

It was nice to be out of hte caves, the real wind blowing felt good

I finish eating my portion of the food I prepared and see her just sitting there with her tea. I get up and get her food for her.

"You need to eat something Rane" I say as I hand her the plate of food. It is still warm, but not too hot to eat.

I sit back down next to her and put my arm around her shoulder. I want to let her know I will always be there for her.

Rane opened her eyes and excepted the food, and the embrase, she needed suport though she still wasn't compeltely sure of her own feelings.

But she ate what was given and leaned her head against his shoulder closing her eyes again, for this moment, all was right in the world.

Of course she also new she needed a bath.... and there weren't likely to be handy cottages with bathing rooms in them nearby, so a cold stream would have to do insted.

I hold Rane close, she had lived a sheltered life in her village. She was not prepared for what this world could be like. She was strong, yet still very fragile. She needed someone to protect her, and love her. I decided then that we should probably stay here for a couple of days.

"Rest here while I go look around the area. We need more firewood and could use some water" I say as I let go of her and start to get up.

"I can help" she says "Find water or something, maaybe I can find some edible greens, set some traps?"

She didn't want to be left behind this close to the tunnels

Creed

"Are you sure you are well enough to do this?" I ask in a concerned voice. "I don't want you getting any worse than you already are."

I look at her and can see the worried look on her face. I know the tunnels are not a friendly place, but she needs her rest and this place will have to do until we can find better shelter.

She tilts her head and hear's water "How about I just go t the water?" she points out and once she does Creed can hear the faint sounds of falling water somewere outside the cave, faint enough to be just a small stream falling over some rocks, likely not too fair, once outside the cave the sound it louder and oviously nearby, but rocks and brush had muffled the sound.

"I'll just wait there ok?"

Creed

"Ok, but take this just in case" I say to her as I hand her my dagger.

I help her stand up. We head out of the cave together, I head off to the left as she heads down the gentle slope to the stream. I start gathering any dead branches I can find and take them back to the cave. I make several trips back and forth before I notice up the hill from the cave a small shack, like a miner's shack. I decide to invetigate it.

It seems to be in fairly decent shape, though it appears to have been unused for some time now. As I enter the small building I can see that all of the windows are intact, the roof appears intact, and there is some furniture inside. A table, several chairs, a bed, and trunk, and a bathtub. There is also a fireplace near the table. Some firewood is stacked next to it. This place would be better suited for out immediate needs.

I leave the buildings and head down to the stream. As I get close to the edge of the stream I stop and watch as I see Rane washing up at the edge of the stream.

Rane had gone to the stream and pulling up her skirts she cleared and widen a small area into soemthing resembling a pool and once the water cleared again she pulled off her clothing first scrubbbing out as many of hte stains as she could then draping them over branches to dry in the early afternoon sun.

The water was cold enough to make her gasp and her nipples to harden but she got in and knelt washing her long hair of most the grime and whatever didn't belong

Her slender form glissened from the moister of the cold water over her body as she threw back her hair sending an arche of water with it, she smiled and brushed it back a little eyes closed and sitting with back arched letting the sun warm her cooled skin

I decided to walk up to her as she leaned back at the edge of the stream.

"Rane I have some good news" I say as I approach her. "I found a small cabin a short distance up the hill from the cave."

I look down at her, her body is beautiful. I only hope she doesn't get scared by my presence while she is naked.

Hr initial reaction was to cover herself but she relaxed some though she kept her arms around her chest her legs drawn up a bit below the shallow water "Oh.. good, so we don't have to sleep in the cave?" she wasn't expecting him this soon and though her tunic would be parsially dry before he got back.

Rane desided not to asume anything and blushed profusely, not scared just embarrased though she knew he'd seen her before....

she hadn't exsactly been in controle of herself at the time either.

Her eyes were on the bank were hsi feet were "Um.. yea.. so.. I'll um finish up here..."

"Well if you don't mind I need to clean up a little more myself." I say to her as I remove my clothes and get into the stream. I start washing the last of the dirt and grime off, taking care to make sure my wound is properly cleaned. It would leave another scar, one of many I had acquired over the years. I washed my hair last, dunking under the water to rinse it off. I get out of the stream and get dressed again.

She's left staring and blushing profusely keenly embarrased and unsure of her staus and hte sitchuation she waits shivering slightly fromt eh cold water and once his back is turned grabs for her clothing. hastily pulling the tunic over her slim form and soft skin.

"If you are ready to go I will show you where the cabin is, actually it is more of a shack" I say to her as I offer my hand to her to help her up.

I lead her up the hill to the cabin and then head back to the cave to get our provisions and the firewood I had gathered. It takes me 4 trips to get everything.

Rane looks over the shack and desides that with a cleaning and a little work it would be livable, though for this day just getting a fire in the fireplace and the bed made servicable would be more than either of them could likely handle.

She was still so very tired sleep would be nice, she had gotten very little real sleep since going into the caves. One night without the hassles of being chased, rape or mauled would be welcomed.

Plus she still didn't feel all that well though she put on a good front for Creed. She knew if she didn't take care of herself she owuld be courting something worse than a minor cold brought on from shock system.....

She was clearing out the chimney when Creed made it back with the last load, the bed already made up and most the debry swepted from teh house.

"I see you have been busy" I say to her as I put the last of the firewood on the pile next the fireplace. "You use the bed, I'll sleep on the floor."

I walk over to the trunk and open it to see what inside it may of some use. Inside I find a couple of ccloaks, another blanket, some dishes, and a pouch containing 50 gold coins. I walk to the table and have seat in one of the chairs.

Rane was going to object about him sleeping on the floor, his injuries needed the better rest he could get on a bed...

"we.. could.. share?" she offered tentively then hurriedly went to work on other things, airing out blankets and such "This place cannot hve been abandoned long, wonder if anyoen will come back?"

Creed

"I know you haven't been overly fond of my presence in the past, so I will only if you really don't mind sharing the bed with me" I say as I watch her continuing to tidy the place up. She will be a good wife for some lucky man. I get up and stack the pile of firewood.

"You should rest some more" I say to Rane as she finishes putting the blankets out to air. "I don't know how long it has been abandoned, but it has probably been less than a year."

She looked at him and smiled hessetantly "I don't mind.. really. I mean, you need a bed for your injuries and I just want to sleep in a real bed.. it's big see" and she layed down showing just how much room there was on the bed, likely the last family that lived there shared it with the children. That wasn't uncommon a practise, she had been lucky that growing up she had her own room. Though as a child she had still spent many a stormy night curled up with her parents.

She stared at the ceiling resting a few moments eyes half closed, "A year? in good shape for a year" she murmered and curled onto her side and yawned, a small form, exhasted and worn.

It was getting late in the afternoon, I got up and start a fire to cook with. A good hot meal would do us both some good. I decided to fix a stew. It would take a couple of hours to fix. I also made some biscuits in the oven built into the side of the fireplace. It wasn't a fancy meal, but one that would help us regain our strength. I let her sleep while I cooked dinner.

When dinner was finally ready I went to the bed and gently shook her shoulder. "Rane, dinner is ready if you are hungry." I say to her as she starts to roll over.

She awoke with his touch and rolled over complaining half sleepily "ok" she murmered as it redistered what he said "Dinner? ok" she had ment to cook, but didn't mind not having that to do, it smelled good too.

Creed

"I hope you don't mind stew and biscuits, it is just about all I know how to cook" I say almost apologetically to Rane as she gets out of bed. I wish I knew more than just fighting, it would make life a little easier.
