Creatures of Darkness Contest (scroll down)

Since a friend's recommendation about this site's xmas contest ended up with me getting a publishing contract for Christmas Stalking ( thank you, Neo) I thought I would pay it forward...

Stardust is having a Creatures of Darkness contest. Top prize is $200 and a publishing contract.

Since Halloween just passed and the deadline is Dec 31, I thought some of you might want to re-vamp (ha) or expand your Halloween entries...

"Happily ever after" disqualifies mine, even if I could manage to stretch one of the two stories out. ( Harvest comes closest, and it's only 1/3 the requirement )

If I had more time, I could probably revamp another ancient story ( Harvest is a rewrite of something ancient never shown to anyone ) I'd been planning to write eventually and meet the word/ending requirement, but no chance of that right now with all I have on my plate, and my lethargic muse.

I'd have to start from scratch, as I have nothing to fit the 'dark creature' requirement. Since I've only got 1800 words written for NaNo, I don't think I can get it done in time. LOL. Thanks for the site though.

Well maybe someone is doing a Nano one that fits? Ya never know!
Exactly...I have nothing that fits and am quite busy enough that this is not reasonable for me... but you never know. This is a perfect example of the kind of things we should be informing our AH brethren about...

My NaNo will fit......except for the happily ever after thing, damn it.

Yeah, but if you put Abyss with Black... tie them in... think about it :)

Nope, still a little short.

Maybe if I finish my present Georges story on time I can put together the anthology I'm planning. All the stories do kinda make a novel. If very percussive.

I noticed the site mentions it has an open submissions policy. So it does not necessarily have to be a Dark Creatures entry, correct? Even if that is what they are looking for right now, I am sure they would consider other well-written stories for publication.

Tempting idea . . . although personally, I would have to tone down some of my descriptions.

Creatures of Darkness Submission

This really sounds fun and promising. There is a vampire story I am workign on that I wanted to submit for my erotic horror entry for the survivor contest. Does justice, getting revenge and retribution count as a happy ending?

Hm... I dunno!

I thought, "well my latest chapter is 14 pages long, by FAR the longest I've ever written...I wonder how many words it is...only 7,000?! Damn! That means that, in WORD, my story would have to be around 70 pages long! That's craziness!

Could be fun though. ;)

Can I combine several chapters of an existing story into a single entity? I might enter Dead Man's World and / or Full Moon Strays if so.
Now all I have to do is edit two really long series!

Oh! Do that, Evil. I loved Full Moon Strays.

Nice to see you again.

Hey Rob! RogueLurker told me to check out this story thing.
What exactly does this company mean by "publishing" anyway?
I just combined Dead Man's World into a single story, and I think I just squeaked by the minimum words requirement

Good question. Ask Selena, I guess. I notice she's got something published there.

I have a couple things started. Maybe if I can finish them (a big if), I'll have enough to qualify.
