Hey Emap just because some of us are stuck with a 24 hour erection doesn't mean we aren't around. I am getting ready for the nanowrimo coming up soon and have a totally warped idea.
Anyways back to homework...
Characters
Carney the Liar
Freddy el Paranoido
MsRead the Sincere
At a coffee shop in the afternoon early evening setting sit 3 coworkers for reasons to be discovered in the telling of the tale. The plot will come when it comes.
"Did you hear that tonight you can see a comet with a naked eye" Carney says as Freddy and MsRead look up to the evening skyline. Carney catches a quick glance at MsReads towering breasts.
Freddy has doubts as he tackes a swig of his beer. "What's this naked eye business anyways. I mean are you supposed to put clothes on it. Maybe it has something to do with pirates you know with eye patches and all."
MsRead now sitting down totally convinced that Carney was simply making up one of his stories addresses Freddy. "Did you hear that on some old Seinfeld episode or something?"
"I think I see it" Carney says as he looks over at MsRead who smiles at him as his eyes go from breast to face level.
"Carney, are you sure you haven't had too much to drink?" MsRead asks politely.
Carney responds "I'm only on my first drink"
MsRead smiles "Exactly my point"
Freddy with his eyes skyward sees the moving object "Hey Carney, that comet is quite bright".
Carney smiles and keeps his eyes on MsRead who doesn't seem to be about to fall for now Freddy's exaggeration.
"Whats' with you guys. It's got to be the brightest comet I have ever seen" Freddy says to his coworkers.
"Freddy...I don't want you to take this the wrong way but don't you remember when Carney told you that Paris Hilton was locked in the office basement? And when you were down their and you saw no Ms. Hilton but he did ask you to bring some files?" MsRead says as Carney looses it.
"Yeah...and your point is?" Freddy says as he still looks skyward.
Carney has to interject " Sorry Freddy dude...you are just to easy to tease. I made all that stuff up about the comet stuff too"
MsRead looks over at Carney in disgust. "One day you should grow up."
Both Carney and Fred seem speechless as they look upwards. MsRead hesitates at first but in the end decides to glance upwards to.
I will stop this short story now and give a couple of possible endings...
1) MsRead doesn't see anything but Freddy and Carney stare at her boobs as she looks up. Or Carney does and slips Fred a $5 bill for going along with his gag.
2) A real comet is coming and they confess something intimate before the comet passes by causing no damage.
3) MsRead slips the boys some date drug and films them for her internet site.
The point is about how at least I handle creative exercises is that I am looking for clues in my writing that can come back later on in my story. Once I threw in the idea of a comet as a lie I wanted the lie to come back.
