Hi everyone!

I'm new to Lit. I have been reading stories on here for the past year and decided to finally create an account. A little about me, my name is Kelly, I'm 28 and live in California.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am looking for people who are open minded, creative and enjoy writing. I would like to provide someone with a scene idea and details and see what you can come up with, maybe even I help out along the way.

Anyways, if this is something that may interest you then please message me so I can provide you with further contact information and we can talk more.

Take care, everyone!

You’ll probably get a better response if you give some general ideas. What sort of story? How long?

You should post this in the "Story Ideas" forum, and provide some basic information about the story, particularly the category in which you would expect it to be published. You're more likely to get a response if you do.

Welcome to Lit.

The above responses are good. But also, many of the folks who frequent the AH are leery about collaborations in general, and especially if they don’t know you.

Good luck. I’d just write and post something yourself. See how it’s received. You might surprise yourself.

Pretty much the same advice as others have given. Most of the folks who hang out here visit the Story Idea Forum frequently. So don't feel like you're getting the brush off. I think you'll definitely get more eyes on your ideas over there.

As has been mentioned, post a good synopsis of the basics of your 'next great idea' and pretty soon someone will contact you. I would recommend that you come out with more than a "scene" though. Most who would want to collaborate would want to hear about the whole thing, not just a scene. It's probably a good idea to also solidify the level of participation you are going to put in—is it a co-author relationship or something less? (And just so you know; there's nothing wrong with you just wanting to find someone to write it all based on your idea and input—happens all the time over on the Story Idea Forum.)

Be sure you have your Private Message function on. Also be prepaid for a few ass-hats to drop by

Agree the others ^^^^^

I've done a couple of collaborations, and with both writers it started because we liked each other's established characters, we liked each other's style. The premise was then to see what would happen if we had those characters meet.

In other words, we'd both done our Writing 101 for Beginners, and had something to start from.

My suggestion to the OP is, don't be timid with yourself. Start writing what turns you on, get nine or ten short pieces up, learn your technical chops. Then you might be ready to give it a shot with another writer, but until you've learned your own style, I don't think it's a good way to start out.

If, on the other hand, you want to give role play a go, there are other Forums on Lit for that. The dynamic is different though, it's not quite the same as collaborative writing.

I generally agree with what Electricblue said, but I'll add something.

I've had two couples approach me and tell me they liked what I was doing and asked me would I write a story for them, and I did. And that seemed to work well. So my recommendation to the OP would be either to 1) write some stories first on your own and see how that goes, or 2) read stories here, and find an author that you like that you think would do a good job with your idea. You might get a good response. It's going to be harder to establish a meaningful collaboration if you don't do more to identify what your idea is and if you have no idea with whom you would like to work.

I appreciate all the feedback, everyone! I think I'll start reading through different authors works and see who might fit the style I'm looking for best. Then I'll offer them some moolah $$$ if they are willing to write exactly what I'd like.

I think that would be the best way.

Thanks again!
