Pretty scary to think there are people who believe the earth is just a few thousand years old.

I went to a parochial school, and my teacher in grades 5 thru 8 believed that. He said that we could trace back the bible time line and figure out the earth was less than 5000 years old. At the time, there was also a big discovery of dinosaur fossils being discovered in South Dakota. It was in our Weekly Reader. His words on those were "dinosaurs didn't exist, and the fossils, as well as carbon dating is just there to test our faith". After all, dinosaurs weren't mentioned in the bible, and the timeline of creation didn't go back millions of years ago.

I personally think the idiot was full of crap. I hope the other kids who had him as a teacher had minds of their own and realized he didn't know what he was talking about.

When you actually think about it. It is pretty scary that people believe a lot of the crap they believe.

I am shocked that this kind of rubbish is taught in schools.

I cannot imagine that the museum would happen in the UK.

As for Sweetcherrys teacher, they would not remain in employment for long in the UK.

Our education system is perfect but at least it is truthful, even in religious schools.

It is my fervent wish that these people who believe this kind of crap would also believe that a some comet was coming by and that they should kill themselves to get on it. Every last one of 'em. Then we could maybe build a museum to commemorate them. :D

Sadly enough, religious-based education has a different set of criteria than standard piblic schooling. Between those kind of "science" discussions and the prayer ungodly amounts of prayer, devotion and hymn singing, I'm honestly amazed I managed to come away from there with any sort of decent education.

LOL I was so shocked that I kept looking - I was curious about their reasoning, and I found this.

Jeezus, can you believe this from that link??

Also demonstrated Sun and Moon are about 3,000 miles away are both 32 miles across. The Planets are 'tiny.' Sun and Moon do Move, earth does NOT move, whirl, spin or gyrate. Australians do NOT hang by their feet under the world...this is a FACT, not a theory

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people can be, even when they're smart about other things.

*stares*

According to the forums, satellites don't exist, and GPS doesn't exist. Which is funny, because I have a GPS device, and I don't see how it could possibly be making all that stuff up. It only has 8MB memory.
