Okay, I am thinking of starting ( or possably a better writer ) a large story with several characters but since Chyoo is about interactivity I thought it wold be a neat idea to let anyone who wants to create there own character for the story. This would allow for some very detailed characters. So I am throwing this out there to see what yall think. So please fill free to brain storm on it.

What is your characters Name, Age, Date Of Birth, Hobbies, Wealth, Occupation, Intrest, Fears, Habbits, Personality, Apperance, Flaws, Sexual Prefrence, Fetishes, Marital Status, Backstory, and relationship with other characters? Or any other ideas you might have.

My current concept (Not set in stone) is to have four families to choose from with four members in each family allowing for sixteen main characters to choose from and several more supporting characters.

Sounds like fun! Have you been kicking around any ideas for characters, scenes, or themes?

Having some early-established connections between the various families might help get the action going -- two families might have members of the same church or sports club, or working at the same place, or be next-door or backyard-to-backyard neighbors, etc.

Well I am thinking maybe a suburbs kind of deal. Of course It could also have like three neighborhoods to choose from the main page. A gated community island for the rich. A suburbian neghiborhood for the middle class. And an apartment building for the lower income characters. Basically you could pick one of these three and then pick a family, then pick a character. Of course this would be alot of work to say the least. With 48 if not more characters.

As far as connections between famalies.
If it just envolves one neghiborhood then I would say.
Family A son is dating Family B daughter.
Family B wife and Family C husband work toghter.
Family A son and Family D son are best friends.
Or stuff like that where they are all losely connected.

I guess the first thing is to do is come up with family names.
Here are two from me.
Fairchild & Strickland

Not sure but you may be better off creating the set-up and then advertising for characters for each of the roles. I just think that otherwise there might be a mess of disconnected characters and not much as people throw individuals into the mix.

It's not a criticism, just some advice to help you kick-start this idea.

Oh, and 'Fairchild' and 'Strickland'? Welcome to white, middle-class suburban hell... :)

Character / family sketches

Rico,

Here are some sketches of mine based on your thoughts so far.

Rich families on gated island
The island is near downtown, but only a small part is publicly accessible without an ID card or sticker on your car. Getting dinner delivered is a hassle unless you choose one of the restaurants available via Your Head Waiter, the food delivery service approved by the community association.

Living here:

Lawrence Strickland -- heir to a small fortune he turned into a larger one as an importer of wine and other European luxury foods. He regularly visits his first wife Barbara behind the back of his second wife Gianna.

Gianna Vincenzi Strickland -- second wife, a passionate Italian woman. She loves her husband with her heart and her loins and is loyal to him but not faithful. She's drawn to impulsive sexual encounters. Often shopping triggers her lust. Loves her daughter and stepdaughter equally.

Laura Carol Strickland -- Barbara and Lawrence's daughter. Carol Cooper is her music teacher as well as her father's college girlriend. Her younger sister Maddie is her best friend. She gets along better with Gianna, who encourages her to follow her passions, than with her mother, who strikes her as fussy and critical. Still a virgin, at least technically.

Maddalena Strickland -- Gianna and Lawrence's daughter. Born before their parents could divorce and remarry. Sexually impulsive like her mother. Her big sister Laura is her best friend.

Barbara Lodge -- Lawrence Strickland's first wife, Laura's mother. Lives downtown in a luxury high-rise apartment. Started having a regular dinner-and-sex date with Lawrence again several years ago ("old times' sake" at first) but is content to be "the other woman" and keep her independence. Lawrence isn't her only man any more.

Francis Fairchild -- heir to an electronics fortune. Day trader, dilettante, audiophile. His wife and mistress keep him happy most of the time, but he's not very attentive to his daughters.

Lucy Cabot Fairchild -- wife, from "old money". Lesbian Until Graduation at her Ivy League college, and still gets together with "the old girls" for fun. Easygoing and pleasure-seeking but devoted to her daughters.

Solange -- An Afro-Caribbean woman from Martinique. Originally a nanny for the girls, now Francis and Lucy's shared mistress. Her role in the housenold is an open secret.

Francine -- daughter, daddy's girl -- has his looks and mannerisms, sometimes begs him for attention.

Pam -- daughter, friend of Nicole Cooper, went to Amsterdam with her when they were 18.

Middle class families in suburban neighborhood
These are a little further away from downtown than the others.

Living here:

Mike Cooper is living at home with his parents while he goes to college downtown. He's off early and back late, except that he's always home for Sunday dinner. Sara (below) is in an evening class with him. He followed Sara's sister Sharlene home after a late party night. They've gone dancing and had sex together several times but neither one thinks it's serious.

Mike's mother Carol Cooper is a music teacher. She teaches some students at her home, and visits others at their home, including the rich gated island. She was a college girlfriend of Lawrence Strickland and visits his house regularly to teach piano to his daughter. (Is Mike or Nicole actually his child?)

Mike's father Richard is an audiophile, and manages a high-end home theater and audio store. He's gotten the house wired for all sorts of audio and network signals, and can centrally or remotely control lights, sound, locks, and video. He has a private "audio oasis" room that he can also use to monitor hidden cameras and microphones in the house. He helped to wire the Fairchild house's home theater and security system.

Mike's sister Nicole went to a private high school and made friends with Laura Strickland and other girls from the rich families. She's done some babysitting work for them and has even gone on foreign trips with some of the girls. When she was 18 and a senior in high school, she and Pam Fairchild spent a foreign exchange semester in Amsterdam, where she lost her virginity and gained lots of sexual experience. She still hangs out with the rich girls but isn't sure what she wants to do next.

Lower income apartments
These are in a neighborhood near downtown, walking distance from the downtown nightclubs and dance clubs, but also near the "adult entertainment" district. The residents are a mixture of struggling wage workers, young hipsters, college students, and low-income retired folk. The locals want to keep gentrification (and higher rents and condominium conversions) away on the other side of the railroad tracks/river, so fancy cars might be vandalized.

Living here:

Buck Burgess drives for "Your Head Waiter" to earn money while he tries to get his rock band together. He's earned some nice tips and smiles from rich families' younger members when he delivers food. Especially if he's willing to deliver items that aren't on the menu -- alcohol? condoms? or to sneak illicit visitors in and out.

Sharlene Butler and her sister Sara are roommates. Sharlene is a bit of a party girl. She works at a downtown clothes boutique but mostly likes to have fun. Sara is going to college downtown and working a part-time job to help support her education. She's focused on her goals, but if some fun falls in her lap, that's fine. Sometimes Sara stays out late to study if Sharlene is having a party in their apartment. Sharlene's had some casual fun (dancing, sex) with Mike Cooper (above) but they're not steady or exclusive. Sara and Mike share an evening college class.

Bump...

Rico, any ideas taking shape for launching the story? -Z.
