420 used to be the hot one. They don't try all that hard to hide it because the cops don't give a shit about the minor stuff. Mostly they just have to hide it from Craigslist.

I actually have hooked up (and had sex with) a guy I met on craiglist. Of course, it was all done very carefully (court record search, first meeting in a public place), etc. But it worked out well for me. Of course there are a lot of crazies on craigslist, so I'd recommend being really really really careful. But occassionally, it works out pretty well.

Anyone else think it's funny that the guy's using Lit as his reference for whether Craigslist is OK?
Met my ex girlfriend on there, sold a few things on there, bought a couple of things. Dealt with a few nutty sellers on there. Nothing like having a guy tell you he can find a buyer closer... since I was going to be the one driving to him, seemed odd. Or the one with the diconnected cell phone, sure I'll call on friday, be nice if your phone worked.

What good would a court record search do? How do you know which court to search? How do you know he gave his real name?
Seems like it'd be pretty easy to give a fake name and even if pressed for ID he could lie about where he's lived.

Back in my crazy days, a woman I met online had me send a scan of my driver's license, so she could have a friend in the police department check me out. And she was clear: if I showed up and it wasn't my picture on the license, she'd be gone before I get within ten feet of her.

Point being, before you pass along a story, make sure it's not UL. Snopes is a good place to start. Not saying your story might not be true, it's entirely plausible, but check first.

The gay/bi guys seem to be real on there, but the women don't. I've had a few women reply, but they seem to chicken out when you actually want to meet.
As far as the murders, people back in the day got murdered/assualted/raped by people they met in bars or at parties. It's like any other social meeting, you take chances meeting strangers.
